No Man's Land and Run Lola Run are my favorite foreign films.
You should rent The Princess and the Warrior / Krieger und die Kaiserin, Der from the same director. I enjoyed Run Lola Run more, but this was still a very good movie.

I really liked a Korean film called JSA: Joint Security Area. Not sure if you can find it but its good.

'Goodbye Lenin' is a recent german film making a bit of fun at the way of life in the old Deutsche Demokratische Republik. Excellent Film by Wolfgang Pertersen.

it was cute i guess. soundtrack basically stolen from the piano😛

and yea flying daggers sucked. occasionally theres a foreign film worth watching, but mostly they are overrated. dirty pretty things was a recent decent one with audre toutuo(sp) and yes a very long engagement too. i have it but haven't watched it yet, i do know its reviewsare sorta mixed though. 2048 is supposed to be sorta the continuation of in the mood for love. though in the mood for love was sort of a drag beyond the mood thing.

i didn't like brotherhood..it was like pearl harbor, but worse.
oh a good film is OLD BOY!! 🙂

Doesn't have to be foreign, many great independent films are made here in the U.S. I liked a movie called Dead Man with Jim Jarmusch and Johnny Depp

Night Watch (Russian)

personally, i ddin't like night watch too much. they premiered it at the tribeca film fest, and it was such a letdown.

my recommendations....sympathy for mr vengeance which is the first of the three revenge movies by the guy that did oldboy.

sympathy for mr. vengeance
oldboy
sympathy for lady vengeance
JSA <-- already mentioned, but these four movies were directed by the same dude.

i actually watch most if not all movies with subtitles turned on because sometimes you can miss some intricacies of a well written dialogue in a heat of the moment.
