Excel Wizards - Help Needed (asap)

Hey all, thanks in advance. I have a spreadsheet set up with a comments section in one of the rows where text is entered. A few of the comments have approx. 1,400 characters in them (including spaces). I don't get any errors from excel saying there are too many characters. I have the cells set up so that they are centered vertically (tried centering at the top too), left justified and wrap text with 9 font. The cell is really long though. I try to make it narrower, but Excel isn't cooperating. There is a point where Excel stops wrapping the text and words get cut out at the end of the comments. There is still plenty of room at the bottom of the cell for more room, but it's not utilizing it. Any suggestions? The text was copied and pasted from word, so maybe there is some hidden formatting? (<- suggestion from my coworker, but I don't think that's the case).

As a test to see if Word is doing any funny formatting, paste the stuff from word into notepad then copy from notepad into Excel.
