Excel 2007 Charts

I am trying to change the default line style width on charts.

I can create a chart the way I like and save it as a template. But when I apply the template to new data the line widths go back to 2.25pt instead of staying at 1pt.

Is there a menu that I don't know about to change that fat horrible line to a skinny one?

I might have said it wrong. I can change the default value to something different like 1pt. to get the skinny lines on the chart. But if I create a new chart the lines go back to the default 2.25pt. I would like excel to have a default of 1 pt instead of 2.25pt for the line style width.

Does that make more sense?

Were you able to change the default so the next time you started excel it was the same as when you shut down the program?

I guess the only trick is to make a template with more series of data than you normally use with the formatting you like.

Dumb Excel

I'm sure that something is going on, but it works as advertised for me. Create Line chart, set line size to 1pt, save as template. Exit Excel. Restart Excel, select some data, create chart using the saved template. The new chart has a line that is 1pt in width.

Are you actually creating the new chart using the template? Or, are you expecting to change the default width? You have to use the template that you created to automatically get the skinny line.
