Excel 2000 crashing on startup

Hi guys. I've had MS Office 2000 installed for a little over a year now and have never had any problem out of it. However, recently, I've found that when I try to start up Excel, it brings up the splash screen, and then promptly crashes. No other Office programs do this. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times but that hasn't worked at all. I'm really kinda at a loss at why this is happening, so I was hoping maybe someone here could shed some light on the situation.

My guess is some kind of dll file or something that is corrupted or what not, but I have no idea which libraries excel uses to operate. I've also very recently upgraded to Windows XP and I have the same problem in XP as I did in 98.

Probably something else you installed that doesn't get along with Excel. My Excel was crashing and I tracked the problem to the combination of NAV 2002 and Acrobat.

Make that 2 votes here for Norton Anti-Virus

It doesnt say you use the norton or if you are using any other utilities in the background

but i find this is usually true as they often share the same files and cause a program crash

hope this helps

Thanks guys. I did indeed have NAV installed, but I fixed the problem by tracking down an Office XP CD. 🙂 Probably a MS timebomb or something.
