This is very true. However, since we all know (thanks to that one commercial) that scent is the sense most strongly tied to memory, you stand the risk of reminding her of an ex-bf...largely because aqua di gio is so da*n popular.

The trick is to find a cologne that girls will like, but that is also unique/not widely used. That way, everytime they smell it, they'll say something along the lines of, "I love that stuff, it always makes me think of you."

But if you want something tried and true besides aqua, issei miyaki also goes over quite well.

LOL Acqua is amazing. I asked a girl what her fav. cologne on a guy was, she literally shouted AQUA GIO!!! I picked it up...man that stuff smells good. Girlies love it
 
Just a plug for Clinique "Happy" for men 🙂 I spray it on my upper back below my neck, on my chest, and sometimes on my clothes. I get compliments like everyday on the ****** 😛

Issey Miyake, fellas. Similiar to ADG but much better.
 
Spray it only in the air in a well ventilated area, not the bathroom and walk through it other wise its way too overpowering.

I figured I'd spelled Issey Miyake wrong, thanks for the correction.

Honestly, aqua di gio is nice (I liked it ever since I smelled some in an airport like 7 years ago), but I think the main reasons so many girls say they like it is a combination of:

1) So many guys wear it
2) It's armani
3) It smells nice, so mixed with #'s 1 and 2, the name is easy to remember

I generally don't like to buy the same cologne after I've finished a bottle, but there are a few I might make exceptions for. Este Lauder has some good ones (Passion comes to mind), and then the one I use now, Soprani's "Uomo," which I actually like better than Aqua.
