Exactly how and where does Anand get all the resources to build and maintain this site?

Just curious. Just read the "Upgrading the server farm" article and that's some pretty expensive equipment there. Do those companines donate them to him? Just curious.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the companies give him freebies but I do also know that this site generates a LOT of money. A LOT.

A site THIS big, w/ a 45,000 people user base, you know how much those top/bottom ad banners along generate?

When you're the leader in the computer review industry, people give you free stuff and money to gain favors man.

About $0 most of the time. With the recent decline in ads around the internet even Anand has been hit hard, because if you look closely, 95% the forum ads which are provided by 24/7 are the same DEFAULT ones, which don't pay a penny.

well basically, if he asks some of those companies nicely enough, they will give it to him for free just for the publicity

(look, our ram/raid controller/hard drive is used by the largest hardware review site on the web)

and he seems to have a very comfortable relationship with some of those companies (micron for example)

What about before his site became popular? At that time, how did he get his hardware to test and review? And this goes for any hardware-tech-review site. Where and how do they first get their materials to review? Out of their pocket? That would be a pretty big investment for something that could not flourish. It's a big risk.

they give them to the reviewers, except for small little sites run by a person or two, who just buy one or borrow on from a friend.

and Anand is NOT hurting for money, he drives a new BMW every six months. :|
