Certainly one possibility. He is clearly not well - I was a little shocked by his photos - and it wouldn't be hugely surprising if a sex tourist to SE Asia came down with AIDS.

In addition to the alibi, he apparently claims he drugged JBR before raping and killing her, but the tox-screen done as part of her autopsy found no drugs or alcohol in her system.

no, if he is sick and dying, who better to place the blame on? he gets famous for it and then doesn't spend much time in jail because he dies shortly after.

Yeah, there are too many holes in his confession. I think he is just trying to get his 15 minutes before he croaks.

And BTW, my guess was that her brother did it (her brother was at the perfect age at the time to be sexually confused), and that the Ramsey's covered it up to protect their sick in the head kid.

thats one theory. another is he knows the real killer and is trying to save them since he is going to die soon anyway (or took a pay off) etc.
