Sadly I'm sure his appeal will be dragged out for three years and Obama will pardon him so he never sees jail time.

We can all almost bet our bottom dollar and sweet bipee that Jefferson will appeal, but at this late date and being past the point of sentencing, the judge will probably order Jefferson's ass to jail as soon as a prison bed becomes available, where he can sit in prison while his appeal winds its slow way through the legal system. And then he can have something in common with all his fellow inmates, who also have appeals pending.

As for Obama pardoning Jefferson, there is zero current evidence that Obama would make such a politically unpopular move and even less evidence that it could or would be justified as a matter of good ethics.

Just because he files notice of appeal does not mean the judge cannot order Jefferson directly to jail, which is typically what happens.

Filing an appeal is not a 'Get Out of Jail Free' card.

Good sentence. Just about the same about of jail time (GOP) Representative Cunningham got for his egergious corruption a few years ago (Cunningham was blatantly squeezing kickbacks out of defense contractors for legislation). Different party, same corrupt scum.
