Okay, we are trying to figure out what happened to this guy (Adam). He worked in my group for about 3-4 years and all of my coworkers know him well. I actually replaced Adam when he went to another group in the company. So anyway, here is the scoop.
My coworker (John) got a call Wednesday morning from Adam's boss asking if he had talked to Adam recently. Apparently, he went to eat with John and a few other guys around 11. Around 1PM, he left work without his Ipod or jacket (in MN, so it was about 35 degrees out) and his laptop was left on. The boss said they looked at security video and he was talking to somebody outside the building without a jacket on his cell phone and then walked off to his car.
They talked to his roommate at work and he had seen Adam around 8:30 Tuesday and he was going to a party at another friends house. They talk to that person and said he was there for a while and then left, but his cell phone is still there. They call his parents and his Dad goes to his house and his truck is still in the garage.
Now, we don't know much more than this and its going on 2 days since he left work. He has never done anything like this before and doesn't have a drug problem or anything that anybody knows of. So, what the hell could happen to somebody to leave work with your jacket or ipod. To me, the roommate and friends sound kind of suspicious since they say they don't remember who or when he left the other place.

UPDATE:
Talked to his manager and she called the parents. He left a VM on their machine at home saying he was fine. They still don't know where he is or anything like that though. After talking to some coworkers that knew him better, it seems like he might be in rehab or something like that. Apparently he has some friends that deal is some non-recreational type drugs, so he might be on some crazy bender or in rehab for either the drugs or alcohol. Unfortunately, even if the manager does find something out, we won't be told about it because of all of the company policies with this stuff. So, hopefully we hear from him in the next week or something and get the scoop.
