I believe in evolution as directed by an intelligent agent, in this case God. Without intervention, evolution would be impossible. Genesis is just a symbolic description of the actual process of evolution, not a lie.

How so, oh AT arbiter of all that is knowledge? Why does Genesis have to undergo revision after revision simply so that it can fit into more modern understandings of reality?

your mixing disciplines in an improper manner, and this a fallacy.

But, but he knows physics!

It's all about subparticle re-rastificationizationillation-repulsion and Ricky Schroeder's dead pet dog or something. I dunno... ask his girlfriend! I didn't watch Silver Spoons.

How about, why create us with two lungs and two kidneys, but only one heart? It fails for a few minutes and you're screwed.
Kidneys? Nah, you can go quite a few hours if both of them would fail completely.
And for some more fun, let's make one shared tube for air, liquid, and solid material. But if solid or liquid goes into the place where the tube for air splits off, death can occur. Brilliant once again. We'll also half-ass the ribcage while we're at it. It protects some vital organs. That's good enough, right?

Let's see, what else. Eyes that can't see dangerous wavelengths of light. A nose and tongue which are unable to detect many toxic substances. And so on...

I am saying it does.

It's for those who don't care, don't want to cast their vote for the other two, or just are bored.

I believe in both. Honestly, I'm quite indifferent to the whole struggle. My faith tells me that the universe was created, but it doesn't require that the creative process stop at any given point. Science is attempting to unravel the process by which our current biological sphere came to be, and it is naming that process evolution. I don't think that disqualifies belief in a Creator.

Don't try to understand something as deep and out-of-this-universe as God and religion. Why do people think they can understand everything they want using common laws that they think apply everywhere. Just because we think we know everything around us, doesn't mean we know everything.

At a hearing last week before Texas' State Board of Education , scientists and social conservatives exchanged fiery arguments over a rule that requires science textbooks to cover ``the strengths and weaknesses'' of evolutionary theory.

Darwin critics control seven of the 15 seats on the board and have the support of Republican Gov. Rick Perry . The chairman of the board, Don McLeroy , a dentist, is a creationist who believes that the Earth is only thousands of years old, not billions as most scientists think. The board will decide the issue in March.

The chairman of the board. Of Education. Thinks Earth is a few thousand years old. Gotta love it.

Louisiana's State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education adopted guidelines Jan. 15 that allow teachers to use ``supplemental materials'' that aren't in regular textbooks about ``controversial'' subjects such as evolution and global warming.

Because k-12 school teachers know more than nationally recognized scientists. Oh, Gov Jindahl, you were almost there.

Wait, religion is out of this universe? Damn, you mean the Scientologists are right?
