So, I guess I am waiting for the HTC codename, Kingdom.
Spec wise, it's a dual core phone w/ wimax minus the 3d.

I'm too tired to get too much into detail about this but wow. Do Android handset manufacturers just assume that the majority of current and/or future Android owners really couldn't care less about battery life? And this is coming from an EVO 4G owner...

No it's just HTC that doesn't care about it, Motorola and Samsung have made phones with great battery life.

Yeah, HTC has had a pretty poor record. The tiny battery in the Inspire is what makes the least sense -- they had a big opportunity there (no extra radio to power, last-gen chip on a low-power process) for a long-life phone but blew it.

Its a freaking phone. Why so much emphasis on the camera?

because life these days is captured on phones cameras.. people dont carry a camera everywhere.. but they do carry their phones..

it is an integral part of life today..
I want to capture those images with all the quality i can..

The majority of people in my neighbor with Android devices bought them because they liked how they looked in the store. Their technical knowledge is very low. The girl at the end of the block has had a Droid 2 since the week they came out, I just showed her how to add/remove widgets. She was beyond blown away lol, apparently I "hacked" her phone for her. Another neighbor has an EVO and I wouldn't doubt for a minute he doesn't even know it runs Android. When he bought it he told me he got an "HTC GOOGLE" phone and ask what I thought about them. The flip side would the uber nerds who root and run Rom Manager. There doesn't seem to be any in between. He's totally oblivious to battery life and believes no phones last a day with moderate use.

I thought I would "help" him by showing him the power widgets, he called me the next day saying his bluetooth wasn't working. I had explained to him to only enable it when needed, but that's far to complex for him to remember. Outside of the uber nerds, Android owners are about as dumb as typical iPhone owners.

Your post made me wonder what it would look like had I photographed it in 3D with this phone.

Now I must go find somebody with an EVO 3D so I can borrow it and do my own uhhh... bench-marking. Even if the battery life's twice as bad as my already bad EVO, big boob pics in 3D could make it a must buy product for me.

Some guys in the Myn Warm thread on XDA are saying they are getting awesome battery life from their 3D's. Don't know what to think now.

Haha! Too bad thats the major issue with the phone is the cam and the screen in 3d mode..was really looking forward to this device. Especially being with the target mobile price of 50 bucks

Using 4G?

I don't even like to fire up 4G unless I'm plugged in, and I have an extended battery...

i don't get it...if the crappy 3d bothers people so much, why not just turn it off and enjoy the rest of the phone?

Indeed. The Gizmodo review even mentioned that there's the toggle to turn it up, but yet they still complained about it.

I don't care for 3d, but 2d camera pic quality is terribly dissapointing.

Galaxy SII isn't a clear winner either because of its soon-to-be-dated low resolution. I don't give a crap about oversaturated SAMOLED+.

I preordered Evo3D, but now am torn and pissed off (can cancel anytime).

There is no perfect (or at least satisfactory) phone in the immediate horizon right now.

Only if SII had qHD resolution + Sense...

I think right now is a bad time to buy a phone really. MOTO sucks with blur, Samsung is a hack and be happy device with the over saturated screens, HTC phones get shit battery life. 4g guzzles battery like a 1970 V8 engine.

I am not sure if I believe the engadget review. I think they exaggerated on the battery life.

Other reviews say that the battery life is not good, when compared to say an iphone. But they say the battery life is better than the original evo 4g. Also engadget said they left the phone on with all of the radios going, does this include the wimax radio? If so, then of course it didn't last that long. They also said they mostly took pictures using the phone that day and some videos. If I recall correctly, using the camera drains the battery faster than anything else on the phone.

I think everyone else about the phone is good. Also seems to be a lot of hate on the 3d on the phone, but no one is forcing you to use it.

Because that's part of the tech and the hardware. You've paid for it, so it shouldn't suck. Since it apparently IS pretty bad people can turn it off... but they're entirely in their right to complain about it. Money put into the 3D tech could have been better spent elsewhere.

I agree with the 4G battery drain but at what point do we consider it no longer acceptable to have to manually toggle 3G/4G back and forth in order to get decent battery life?

Also, I think they only took a handful of pics when doing the battery test though the way it is written is pretty confusing so it could go either way.

that makes sense. but i imagine a lot of people couldn't care less, and are just looking for a dual core, 4.3" qhd device on sprint. the reviews should cater to that potential buyer as well.

I think the article said like 80 pictures and some videos. If you recall when 3g first rolled out I think everyone was worried about battery life too. Hence, why the first iphone was only 2g and not 3g. They waited for the hardware to mature a little bit.

This makes perfect sense. But unfortunately in the over-saturated android world manufactures want to pump out the tech before its mature. My vibrant has horrible battery life even when idle. My Behold 2 had much better battery life but was crippled by android 1.5/1.6. My iphone 4 (just used for netflix and other media stuff, not as a phone) has great battery but I dont use it as a phone. I wonder if the battery would suck if it was on 3g all day. I would rather have a slighly thicker android phone if it would yield better battery life.
