well, it says "nintendo revolution" at the end. that'd be awesome w/ that controller!!!

if it does come out on Wii, the graphics are going to be severely crippled from the PS3 and XB360 versions. Wii is supposed to have a graphics chip *slightly* better than the Gamecube has.

I've got it going at 1680 x 1050 on a 6800GT, so you might give it a try :). The settings are cranked back, but it plays.

Yeah, forget that we might have a way to truly immerse ourselves into the game with the unique controller. The graphics are going to suck, so let's not even bother. There's a reason people still play Starcraft you know...

FPS on Console haven't sat right with me since UT on Dreamcast in which it was decent but nowhere near as controllable as the PC. And noone could beatme at the DC version so it wasn't me.

I like PC games. I go for different games on the consoles I play like Resident Evil series and old school games like mario 3 and the NCAA.

PC games aren't dead but if anyone can do it Microsoft can and probably will at some point.

nono c'mon not this argument again. It's actually false to say that graphics is nothing. Graphics is the driving force behing games. It compliments gameplay immensly.

Anyways, I don't think the Wii version will have the graphics toned down so significatnly that it will suck. The main thing on the Wii, is the awesome controller.

FPS on the Wii will be potentially awesome, despite graphics limitations.

People even say Wii will only sell for less than 300, even 200. That's just too awesome.

EDIT: err, and i love the word awesome :(

The point to this whole things is: EA has already admitted to focusing more on consoles. Now Activision has brought a PC born franchise to consoles first. It may not have been true before, as if Halo could have done something about PC gaming. But today is different. And I'm not saying that it's because of the new gen consoles, but rather the developers are showing us less courtesy. The only future I see for PC FPS's is Valve's episodic gaming idea.

games are still strong yeah, and with the PPU hopefully they'll just get better. but the cost ofpc gaming is spiralling

i mean to play at good quality levels you need a fast cpu, lots of ram, preferably 2 GPU's a decent sound card and now a PPU

i mean this rig i have here, i could of bought 3-4 xbox360's instead.

if pc gaming gets any more expensive, i will be buying a console next time round, because its getting to the point where i just cant afford to play at the settings im used to (ie everything max with AA and AF)

even on this SLI rig i have, im having to turn AA down to 2x on some games. the cards and the motherboard came to nearly £700!

Yea a gamepad just cant cut it in a 3D environment, the only time consoles will be able to do FPS properly is with a mouse and keyboard or some kinda funky Virtual suit like you see in movies, both of these just make the thing more like a pc anyways.

Resident evil 2 and 3 were both good on the pc. I had absolutely no problems with either of them and a gamepad. They played the same as they did on the playstation for the most part.

Dude its really really valid arguement, starcraft graphics are crap compared to todays standards. When they came out they were pretty sweet. But whats sold more? Starcraft or the graphically superior c&c generals? generals graphics are VASTLY superior, but there aint as many people playing it as the 8 year old starcraft, and never will be. Hell theres more playing red alert 2 than generals, its built on a scaled down version of the tib sun engine, and thats what? 7? 8 years old?

There are far more important things than graphics, graphics are overrated severly.

Depends on your definition of good quality. 2048x2048 with 16x AA and 16X AF would be *stupid* quality in my book. As it requires like 5x as much GPU power for a minimal increase in graphics quality. If you have the money and are willing to waste it for a tiny increase in eye candy, go for it by all means. But most dont need/have 2 GPU's many would actually be fine with a 9800 PRO, and PPU's dont even do anything yet. Fair enough when they do it will add cost, but there will be extra competition from ati/nvidia as its likely they will jump on this ppu thing as well, lowering costs.

Just go try playing games at 1200x1200 odd with less AA and AF, enjoy thr extra FPS, itll improve your gaming experiance. I was playing farcry with everything maxed but it lagged when i was using the viewscope and a fatboi killed me because i couldnt finish using the scope quick enough. From that point on i said screw it, im lowering the res and the setting and have had a much better experiance since.

CoD 3 seems to be more of a cash-in expansion to CoD 2 than a brand new game. It's not being developed by Infinity Ward, for a start. We didn't get Finest Hour or Big Red One on the PC either.

Personally I couldn't give a sh*t if it's not coming out on the PC... CoD 2 killed my interest in the franchise. What a boring game, not to mention badly programmed.

We have tons of far more interesting shooters coming up for the PC - Crysis, Quake Wars, Prey, Bioshock, Sin Episodes, Stalker, Duke Nukem Forever (don't laugh), FEAR sequel, Cell Factor, Huxley, UT2007...

Dead? STFU.

It depends on the game. RTS games gain little from being atmospheric, thus better graphics on it aren't necessary for kick assness. However, in FPS, graphics play a big part because atmosphere can add a lot to the gameplay.

Idk about COD3 being more of a cash-in expansion, but I did enjoy COD2 a lot. I though it was one of the better games of 2005.

As far as the games you mention, the ones that are DX10 won't be released this year. And you'll need Vista to get the good graphics. I know that it eliminates at least one from your list. Prey, Bioshock and a few others will be released for consoles. So that only leaves a few exlusives.

I think that if they didn't release it on the PC they would loose a big part of their audience. And more audience=more money, so it only makes sense that it SHOULD come out for the PC.

No matter what, I'll always be a PC gamer because its just more convenient, flexible and cheaper. I don't have the dough to spend on a wide screen home theatre and spend money on consoles and their games when I can easily play the latest games on a PC, multitask, take screenshots, admire the visuals, sip coffee or even have fun running benchmarks or upgrading my computer/videocard. PC gaming for FPS or anyother reason will never really die. But I think Widescreen gaming is the way to fo for the future, I'm so glad I've got a widescreen. :p Oh yea and that link isn't anything close to evidence.

PC gaming is in a definate slump right now. This is only because the amount of good games being released are slim. It's also due to the fact of the replayability of MMOs on the PC, people are less likely to buy new games when 100% of their game time is chewed up by a game they bought a year ago still.

I think PC Gaming will be around for a bit, but it is no secret that all of the game developers make more money from console games than PC games. Way more money, and where the money goes the developer follows.

Also you guys always complain about controllers, but what would be wrong with releasing the next RTS game on the Xbox 360 and have it support a mouse and keyboard? Also now that the new consoles are high def, you are going to get resolutions very comparable to your monitors you use for PC Gaming. The advantage the PC had of a sharper image via a monitor is now over... and there are some pretty good Halo players out there that just use a game pad...

its also because of skyrocketing dev costs. its more financially viable to make console/cross platform games.

I play mostly PC games, and it's true that the PC game market isn't making nearly as much money as the console market. Consoles, PCs, and HT equipment are starting to converge though. PCs are becoming more like consoles and consoles are becoming more like PCs, so who knows what's going to happen?

This year is one of the best years of FPS gaming ever. We've got awesome titles coming out like CellFactor, UT 2007, Huxley, Crysis, QuakeWars, BF2142, COD3 and teh list goes on. All for PC except maybe COD3, but I'm really looking forward to this year. We've already had a good start with the release of Q4.
