EVGA X79 Classified E779 Motherboard Pictured At GeForce LAN 6

Love it. I just couldn't seem to justify the EVGA over the ASUS Maximus for the Z68, but if EVGA gets it right this time, I might try the X79. They need to catch up to the ASUS UEFI though. I'm sure the second SB-E hits, we'll all be battling out-of-stock messages on Newegg, etc.

I just hope the rumors of these boards being real expensive $300+ are exaggerated. As much as i want SB-E, the cost could skyrocket for motherboard/cpu/ram. I'm assuming CPU coolers can fit ok if you don' t have to get a enclosed watercooler they sell for around $80-100 on top of that for a good overclock to happen.

It would be better if they had a 1x or 4x PCI-E slot right above the first PCI-E 16x slot. Looks like there's room for it. If it had that, it would be perfect. My HAF-X has plenty of room for an EATX motherboard.

I feel the same way. Though it looks like a lot of the X79 boards coming out will have the same setup. I'm guessing it might be a tech limitation.

For the Classified it has been confirmed on the EVGA boards that it will be XL-ATX. The FTW version has been confirmed that it will be the E-ATX version. No word for the vanilla version size.

I'm hoping that the Classified will be geared for overclockers (as it has full POSCAPs and from the product manager has stated that they are not adding 3rd party controllers for latency reasons). Then hopefull the FTW will be for people looking for more SATA ports and features(with a 3rd party chips), and the vanilla version will be for budget socket 2011 with Standard ATX form factor. We shall see as it looks like EVGA is still finalizing features.

This. It is one reason why I would consider 1155 boards. I already have a EVGA 760. While its nice, it didn't really show it's strength. The only thing that helped get me close to 4.21Ghz was a bios update.

Maybe he meant quad core and 2 gpu.

Anyway, how many flavors of X79 are coming out? I just thought it was one size fits all for features. Or is it just different types of motherboards with different perks?

Launch is closer than i thought!

What kind of power supply would be able to handle dual SB-E and quad GTX 580s?

you could comfortably squeeze a single 6 core + dual GTX580s into a quality 750W PSU, so if we double up from there I wouldn't want to go with less than one of the rare few 1500W (or higher) units

I ment two hex or octa core SB CPUs and four GTX 580s.

That's one board I'm not going to be getting. They put the 1X slot right below the first 16X slot making it impossible to use my Xonar Essence STX.
