Also I think the XFX and EVGA include Far Cry 2, so if you don't have that yet that could be extra incentive. The EVGA one will also include a free version of Vantage.
All the major partners offer FarCry2 with the GTX 280. BFG also offers Vantage, and was the first one to do so (EVGA followed suit the next day because they didn't want to be left behind, just like with the lifetime warranty and tech support
😉 ).

Absolutely BS actually IMO on eVGA/BFG's part.
Until early this year, BFG did not require registration and was the only company out of the big three to not have such a requirement. Except for XFX with their 1+1, EVERYONE had a warranty limited to the original owner. BFG just didn't enforce it. That changes with requiring registration.
It's like this: There is a road near your house that has a speed limit of 55MPH but everyone goes 80MPH because of lax enforcement. Finally, due to increasing accidents, the powers that be starts enforcing the speed limit through having police officers patrol that road, and ticketing people who drive at excessive speeds.
Of course everyone complains.
With BFG, I guess the decision was made to enforce the rules of the warranty that already existed. After all, if EVGA can become one of the most popular online brands while requiring registration, why not? At least BFG has not diluted the brand by advertising lifetime warranties so much that everyone believes it, and then selling the majority of the product without a lifetime warranty.
Back to warranties in general... I'm a consumer and enthusiast, and as one I know exactly what I want when I buy a product. I want the absolute best quality at the cheapest price with the most lax return policy with no restocking fee, with a hassle-free and transferrable unlimited lifetime warranty which allows me to modify the product to my heart's desire and run it outside of spec if I desire...
The company that offers such service will have my business forever... until they go bankrupt in a few years.

More BS.
So, you are free to buy a product that does not have a lifetime warranty. No need to register for a 1-3 year warranty for other brands.
