Thanks to EVGA everybody knows about it now. Not too smart to call attention to the cleverness of you competitor.

Edit: Just saw ILNdbOi's post, nm. This is like the Bronco's player who sold t-shirts panning himself.

Ok, so XFX put EVGA on their own boxes to indicate that XFX cards are better than EVGA cards? Hmm, just as much as I put my rival's name on my paper since I'm that much better than him...

Or is it just the fact that they put it in the drool?

Bah I'm dumb.

You are dumb if you don't see the symbolism.

by displaying your competitors name in the drool of your company's mascot it is symbolizing that evga is drool compared to XFX. They are publicing "insulting" evga on their product boxes. It would be like coca-cola putting a little hidden pepsi-sucks! on their cans.

Whats funny is I remember people thinking there was an evga insider at XFX putting the evga logo on the XFX boxes on purpose.

Well, Pepsi has displayed many times in their advertising campaign that Coca-Cola will not exist in the future and no one will even recall what it is due to its inferiority to Pepsi. I guess Coca-Cola could sue them for that as well if this ends in victory for EVGA?

<--- more of a Barqs Root Beer kinda guy, but their fate lies in the hands of Coca-Cola.

Lol kind of over the top, but using a copywritten name without their consent, especially when they were referring them as 'drool', should warrant some type of new box art atleast.

I'm inclined to say it was an inside joke or easter egg plugged in by the guys who do the box-art graphics at XFX. I mean seriously, most consumers take the card out of the box and don't look twice at the box itself after that, and even when shopping in stores (who does that any more anyways?) it's pretty hard to spot the letters just glancing down the aisle...

of course if I was EVGA, I'd just counter the smack-advertisement with some box art of my own. Except of course EVGA has yet to actually put any interesting box art on its retail boxes...

well, here's an idea. Put the Nvidia cover girl (that CGI one) on your boxes and have a minuscule line saying "XFX ain't getting none" written in faint print across her breasts.

LOL.

TD

if they were really clever they would have disguised it better ... and had a good reason that those "symbols" looked like it was EVGA - were really a 'coincidence'

this one costs them some serious money and the 'publicity' isn't worth it
--sounds as stupid as AMD with with their weak ass advertising and retarded "promotions"

You DO know Sapphire is having a "give away" promotion .. an AMD CPU :Q
-for filling out a questionnaire
[no, there was no room for "Sapphire RMA Sucks" comments] :p

those St00pids at Sapphire Marketing are giving away a CPU ...
--you'd think they have a few 'extra' HD2900xts "lying around"

totally Brain-Dead

Sort of reminds me of AMDs "hammer" logo.

Of course, that didn't make it to production....

Most likely they'll probably argue that they used the name/logo without permission. I'm guessing it'll be easier for them to win taking that defense tact. Pay lawyers enough and they can argue anything pretty much.
