According to their FAQ you cannot step-up.
That really seems like bulls*** to me, gee, you can't get a card
for someone else as a GIFT anymore and have the ACTUAL owner/recipient
have the benefit of a WARRANTY or STEP-UP if they so choose??
Or someone like a parent who has a credit card or whatever can't PAY FOR
the card for a child / friend who may not be ABLE to purchase it in their name
without a credit card or bank account in their name?
Or if you have a secondary credit card issued to your name,
but the main account is actually under the name of a spouse / parent so on the
invoice it'll say the name of the "account owner" and NOT the name
ON THE CREDIT CARD actually used (by the joint / secondary authorized user)
to pay for it???
Just because one address / name is on the purchase order invoice doesn't mean
that that's even the actual ORIGINAL OWNER of the card in many such cases.
It's ridiculous to deny warranty or step up in such situations. And given
that you can only step up in the first couple of months, it's ridiculous
to deny step up even to a totally unrelated secondary owner, it's basically
a NEW card and it's ridiculous to think someone would be giving/selling
away an essentially new working card at all to someone else unless it
was a GIFT/FAVOR for that other person to begin with or a situation where
the original owner was so unhappy with it that they might as well have
just returrned the product instead of someone getting screwed out of a
warranty/ step-up just by selling/gifting it to someone else in that new state.
Anyway maybe you can have the original registered owner's name associated
with the step-up request as the requestor, I imagine that person would
be happy to let you do that as long as you pay for it and it gets shipped
to your address or whatever.

Quick Question...
I got a used GTS from someone else and the card is still eligible for Step Up.
The invoice shows a different name and address from the original owner.
Being the new owner of the card, Would I be eligible for Step up with the invoice that contains the originals owner's name and address?
