I emailed eVGA about this and they said it could be done. I have the 320MB 8800GTS and I'm debating whether or not I should do this. It seems like a lot of hassle for me since I only game once a week if that. One crappy thing about the step-up program is that they don't cross-ship the new card, meaning you either have to have a spare card to use your computer while you wait for them to receive/ship the new one, or you have to "buy" one at a local store and return it once you get your new card.
