EVGA Standard RMA costs ME $15.95?

*UPDATE*

After going thru the motions and trying to submit my CC# for the $15.95, the RMA got rejected b/c my addy is a PO Box. Apparently, their system tried to charge me $16 b/c of my addy, but then the system rejected the claim outright b/c my addy is PO Box. 😕 Glitch in their system, obviously.

Luckily I have an alternate shipping address that I ocassionally use and there is NO CHARGE for this "normal address."

OK, I feel a lot better and $16 richer now. 😀

😕

My 8800GT (that's never been OC'd, BTW) died. It was in my video editing box (see sig). The fan spins up at 100% at boot, stays at 100% and then and locks up the MB.

I fill out the RMA form at EVGA.com and they want to charge a CC $15.95. WTF? Why does RMAing a product under warranty COST ME additional money on top of the cost of shipping it back?

If anyone could shed some light on this, please do. Thanks.

It's commonplace. Some manufacturers rationalize it as shipping & handling fees, some rationalize it as keeping margins of fraud down. Whatever the case is, basically dealing with an end user is more of an annoyance to a manufacturer than dealing with a vendor that shipping costs are marginalized and absorbed and transferred directly to the customer via markups.

Thanks, SunnyD; I feel a bit better about it, then.

Jayp146; that's just my luck that I'd get charged. 😉 I only have owned and registered 5 different products with them...and have never RMA'd anything.

That's good to hear.

Especially after I specifically bought EVGA card as opposed to cheaper alternatives for their excellent RMA service.
