I hope they sell that thing to those of us who already bought 7800's! That thing looks sweet!

Looks like the stock cooler surrounded by a box to me. Give me stock, I'll upgrade it myself to something of my own choosing if I feel it needs it.

Looks like the Army is starting to use PC's. Camoflaged 7800's, either blowing away people with performance or forcing them to pay loads of money for them.

Just as long as they watch their friendly fire :frown:

Seriously, it could be mistaken for a mini-tank if you give it tracks.

Id agree with nitromullet.

I like my warranty though...

Fair enough, but look at that thing... It really just looks like the stock cooler with a bit of extra covering. You can even see the outline where the stock cooler is. There aren't any details on how it works or what the benefits are supposed to be, so it is impossible to say for sure what the deal is. IMO, this looks more like a bit or marketing to "differentiate eVGA from the rest of the nV herd" than anything that really performs. Maybe they have a copper core in there though, who knows...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking eVGA. I'm very happy with my spec cooled 7800GTX and they took good care of me when I RMA'ed a 6800GT last year. I plan on buying another eVGA 7800GTX when the prices come down a bit. eVGA is top notch in my book, I just kinda wish that they had a cooling solution that was a bit more inspired if they wanted to differentiate themselves this way.

I'll agree with you there. Hopefully, they will at least pull air in from the back/or exhaust it out the back... I mean a two slot cooler is not a killer for most people, even in SLI, you just lose a lot of space, but what other slots do you use? Sound card? That is the only must-have I can think of.

I look upon my X800XL and think about taking the cooler off and putting my VF700 (the copper zalman VGA cooler, have no clue if that is the right number/name) on their, but 3 year warranty at stake.... I am actually not to worried about it breaking at some point down the road, but the replacement going well. I broke 3 cards discovering the art of VGA relacements, luckily I bought them to experiment so grand total they cost me $70. On the other hand, I bought a nice Ti4400 and it broke my heart to see the artifacts... before I messed with it ran fine @ 325/650 :(

Anyway, I just wish more companies would put nice heatsinks on to begin with. I too like EVGA, and will buy another card from them when the time is right to go back to nvidia.

They should include Zalmans on their cards if they want to differentiate themselves.
