Evga P55V no video shortly after bootin

Hi. i have this system

Evga P55V
i5 750
GSkill ripjaws DDR3-1333 2x2GB
Caviar Blue 250GB
Antec TruePower 550W

The motherboard's boots. I see the POST splash screen and up to the Windows 7 login screen. Shortly after I log in, the video cuts out and monitor says that there's no video input.

What's wrong?

It's more a frequency conflict between your monitor and the video card. This is especially true for the older CRT type of monitor where you have to set the video card to drive the correct the frequency or the monitor would go to sleep mode. Now, if you have an LCD monitor, then it's a different story, probably do like others already suggested, boot into safe mode, install different version of driver just to test it. It may not even be the video card, so try a different monitor.

I think its the motherboard as the only thing thats changed us the mobo

wait...what?

You switched mobos, but didn't format the HD and reinstall windows? That's probably gonna cause some issues right there........

What type was your old mobo?

If you transplanted a windows installation from another machine I would agree that the first step would be a fresh install. In general PCIe slots are not intermittent, if it works in the BIOS it should still work in windows. This would point to a software issue, card issue, or PSU issue.

I try to install W7 again, but the screen doesn't stay on long enough for me to click all the buttons for installation.

Hmmmm are you booting off the cd or trying to install windows within windows itself? Can you boot into the bios and stay there for some without black screening?

Also what happens in safe mode?

I've ordered a PSU so it should be here soon.

I've tried booting off a W7 install DVD and a HDD from another computer with W7 installed on it.

I'll try staying in BIOS as long as I can and also safe mode.
