EVGA Nvidia 6800 256MB PCI-E $99 AR Shipped, $95 w/no tax

Mine did 400/750 easily 😀 Try beating that with 6600 GT. Need 256 megs, 600mhz clock, and 1.5ghz memory. Not likely 😉

If I got a 6600 or a 6800 like this in agp over pci e would it be any slower?

I am thinking of grabbing htis card and getting a new mobo.

nice deal!

Got mine. overclocks to 410/750, 73C at load, 2105 in 3dmark06
a little loud, I'll probably be upgrading the cooler.

but best of all, composite extension works in linux.

OK, after all the discussion.

Which is the better card, and deal

and can the pipelines be unlocked ?

also what clocking program works with these ?

You can tell I haven't bought a video card in a while, since I know nothing right now.

Still running some good old gf 2's

But Then again I really do no gaming

This is a nice deal. 6800's on PCIe don't have additional pipelines to unlock. For o/c, enable CoolBits in registry. But if you "do no gaming" or multimedia why not save your money?

I Do , do a lot of multimedia, and photo editing, and I'm presently up-grading my system.

so after 1 year this puppy is getting tired.

Time to up-grade , BEFORE the crash.

Got an asrock board, with an 144 opy, and 2 gig to go with it.

BUT, still need an operating system.

gonna use Xandros for right now, and see how well it works.

the difference between this an da 6600gt is these overclock way more and the 256bit bus makes a huge difference.

256bit bus with 600mhz memory is still more than 128mb memory at 128bit bus at 1ghz on a 6600gt pci-e.

that gpu clock difference is about the same as far as pixel power and this has more vertex units.

that said... i hvae a 6800 pci-e 128mb. it o/cs to 445 core / 845 memory. i'd imagine these could o/c to close to that.

"BUT, still need an operating system."

according to another thread, there will be xp home upgrade for $49 @ compusa

Yea, I saw that , and grabbed a copy of the ad.

Pain is, there's no compusa near me, and I'm not sure if they will ship that.

But, I'll try.

Best bang for your newegg buck, unquestionably the 6800GS. I run Fear, BF2, Battlefront 2 all @ 1280x1024 MAX settings... I have mine running @ 490/1100 like the N391 version, and I've yet to see it go over 50C. 154.00 after rebates at the egg...

Yeah, I agree. I'm about to pull the trigger...wouldn't this be a better version? It is simply an "extreme" overclocked version, right?

Buyer beware. That XFX is a little known 6800XT. It has only 8 pipelines like a 6600GT. 256-bit at 1000mhz DDR is excellent memory bandwidth. However that may only come into play at high resolutions with AA on; the 8 pipes at 350mhz may not be enough to make high res AA playable.

The vanilla 6800 has better shader power at the expense of memory bandwidth compared to the 6800XT. It should also see better gains from overclocking since it's a 12 pipeline card.

They're probably fairly evenly matched in most situations. But of the two I'd rather have the vanilla 6800 at the same price.
