I received my card ordered from New Egg. It has DDR1 and not DDR3. I wasn't expecting DDR3 since they were advertising DDR1 but I did hope. I have more confidence in the card I ordered from Monarch since they call it DDR3 and the item #'s match up....

The XFX 6800GT for $99AR (now $104AR) is only 8 pipes but comes with 256MB clocked stock at 1000MHz. First person to report back got 450/1150 on overclock. The core would still be slower than 12 pipes at 400MHz but the memory clock kicks.

Man I wish I had a PCIe capable board at the moment...

Any place having a similar price on Agp models?

actually i have a 6800 128mb pci-e msi.

the ram speed is not higher.

here are the official clocks.

6800 AGP is 325/700

6800 PCI-E cards are all 325/600.

that said, my msi 6800PCI-E 128mb o/cs to like 420/810 with no additional cooling.

this evga should be good too. you might have to do a bios hack to get the cooler to spin down the fan in 2d mode (had to do that with my msi card)

i doubt it'll be much more down than this. all the cards coming out are in the $200+ price range.

they will probably just kill off this entire range of cards... i figure we can see whatever is left of the 6600gts and 6800s just in the budget space, as it costs nvidia less to just make a 7600 gt than a 6800 or 6600.

btw, 6800 pci-e cards and 6800gs cards have the exact same core , so the only real difference is the ram (most of these tend to have 2.8ns hynix ram, which is 714mhz and can o/c to 800 or so usually). gs cards have 2ns ram for 1000mhz. the cores tend to o/c more or less the same, though you might be at a 40-50mhz disadvantage with the non GS cores.

Most GS cores hit 500 mhz, I don't think that I have seen anyone do that with these little babies. Maybe with some totally sanctioned by EVGA bios modding ti could happen though :D

This looks like a really good deal. However, how does this card stack up against a 7600? Is this the GT or the GS model? I can't seem to find a review of this card that doesn't include the GT or GS attachment.

Good plan for buying a brand new system today?
