Why is that? Do the 128MBer have faster cores? RAM? Apparently, this card SHOULD be able to OC to ~375 MHz (core) and 725 MHz (RAM).

I'm kinda torn between this card ($99), the EVGA 6800GS CO SE ($159) and the HIS X850XT ($195). I'm leaning towards the 6800GS CO SE cause it should be able to play MOST games at pretty high settings UNTIL one of the next generation HIGH END cards have significant price drops down the road.

I just had a client buy one of them, looks like a darn good deal to me. If I were in the market for a midrange PCIe card right now, it would be a no brainer to pick this up. It'll be as fast as a 6600GT out of the box, plus it has 256 megs of ram, and it should have EXCELLENT oc'ing headroom. The low price means that when you receive the rebate, you should be able to pick up an NV cooler and be sitting very nicely.

The ram is clocked higher on the 128mb versions, core clocks are the same. Out of those choices I'd go with the 6800GS.

The 128mb version is a better card.

Only if you bother to leave it at stock speeds :)

The 256 of framebuffer can make a heck of difference in some of the newest games, or even 4xaa and 8xaf in games like HL2.

When Windows Vista comes out, what will be a minimum card to have to comfortably run all of the 3D features in the UI?

I don't play any 3D games at all and currently have a Radeon X300? Should I upgrade?

Your exact card is the "low end" card they tested vista on, and it worked fine without slowing down while scroling through over 10 pages at once in that wierd 3d mode.

In other words, a x300 is good enough for vista.

Maybe snag a nice x1300 with 128 bit memory interface w/passive cooling & 256 megs of ram when they come down in price a touch or grab a refurb from newegg. Power to play the newest games @ 800*600 with low power consumption yet much more 3D power than your lowly little guy. That would be a low cost upgrade that would bring up to date feature wise as well.

What's the difference between this and the 6800 GT? I have one of those already, and if they'd play nice together in SLI I would definitly pick this up.
