Okay so I go and buy a creative x-fi, before I install I tell myself now would be an excellent time for that case swap I've been meaning to do. I also throw in a freshly formatted WD 120gb to use as storage and set it to slave.
I get a 6d error post code on the motherboard's led, will not boot consistently, when it does it just goes to the post screen and stays there telling me the proc speed.

Setup is
939 3k a64 w/stock hsf
Evga NF41
7800gt
2GB of 1gb xms pc 3200 c2
600w Ultra (before everyone starts screaming psu, I've bootstrapped this and tested with a 550w true control, shouldn't be the psu as this was used before I attempted to do a case swap)
1x 120 gb maxtor pata drive
1x lite on dvd-rw
1x creative x-fi xtreme music

Anyhow I can't seem to find too much on the 6d that is relevant (says reserved in their manual online, that's nice insn't it?), waiting on the evga form forgotten pw and i'll post it overthere as well. Any thoughts?
I'm ready to trash the evga board imo.
Thanks for your time guys.

Edit 1/1/06
Forgot to say I flashed prior to installing the x-fi card.
It appears that my problem was caused by an issue with the IDE ports, I'm still using PATA specs on all my drives however there should not be an issue with using hdd or optical on ide 0 or ide 1. All my drives are set properly jumper wise and set to auto detect in the bios, I'm not certain why this happened, anyhow it's up and running fine. Unless I'm forgetting something very basic here this is a mystery why this happened. Maybe this post will help someone else in the future. Thanks for looking!

Rig after mobo transplant to new case.

What BIOS rev. do you have flashed on that board? The original BIOS has problems with X-Fi cards, all the newer versions are ok with them. For the record, BIOS e44 is the latest version.

Congrats on getting this board running. I have the same motherboard, but I never had this issue. The problem I did have at first was getting the system to POST at all in dual channel DDR mode. I must have tried 10 different memory slot combos before I figured it out. My two issues turned out to be:

1. I had to use the blue DIMM slots. Why I don't know.
2. My memory is supposed to be rated to run at CAS2 but two different systems refuse to POST unless CAS is set to 2.5. :|

Why you'd have issues with the IDE ports I don't know. I myself use 2 IDE Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9s on IDE0 with the jumpers set to Master and Slave and two optical IDE drives on IDE1 also set to Master and Slave. I guess it's a good thing it was just a temporary glitch.

Again, congrats.
