I just requested ther step-up through the EVGA site (with the 896-p3-1255-AR model #) and will confirm with customer support that it is the new 55nm partt. I have been waiting for this since i got my 260 a few months ago! :)

I will keep you posted...

Thanks ExarKun333.

This has been what I have been waiting for as well.

But I thought that you could'nt step up to something like a GTX260 55nm if you already have a GTX260 ? Would'nt that more or less be a side grade ? Correct me if I am wrong though.

You should be fine, as long is it is a nV reference-card. The 55nm is still the reference design.....

So you are saying that if you already have a GTX260, then you can step-up to a GTX260 but on a smaller process ? I thought I read and heard before you were not allowed to do this.

Hell, what do I know :p

Would love to get my hands on a GTX295 though. Ya just never know, maybe ill just be able to convince the wife

Is there a definite release date on the GTX295 yet ? Or are all the rumors *just rumors* ?

The EVGA rep said they are allowing the step-up from a non-core 216 65nm 260 to the 216 core 55nm. It was approved! I am now in the queue to get one. Cost me only 10$!!! (I got it for a higher price at Newegg, but it had a big MIR!).

I am definitely excited. My goal is to get another one of these in Jan and SLI them up...
