So after selling my 570 to a friend, and acquiring some more money, I am finally ready to buy another card. I obviously want to get a new gen card, and I'm thinking that for my money the best thing for me is the EVGA GTX 670 FTW. It comes stock clocked at just over 1 Ghz. I also prefer EVGA with their customer service being as awesome as it is. I could look at another brand but I would have to be persuaded. So I ask you, ATOT'ers, is this the best way to blow $400+ dollars? I run at 1080p if that helps.

I did the exact same thing selling my EVGA 570 SC on the bay and got a 670 FTW card. I don't regret it at all. DO IT. NOW....

You could also go ASUS GTX 670 Direct CU II or Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce 3x. These cards have custom cooling and are much more silent VS the EVGA cards. Difference is the ASUS and Gigabyte cards drops all the heat in the case (no problem with a well ventilated case), while the EVGA card blows all the hot air out the back of the case, at the cost of more noise.

670 FTW is an excellent choice. Its silent at idle and load noise is pretty quiet too. The 680 reference fan has very little mechanical noise.

I just bought the 670 FTW, seems great so far. I'm at 1920x1200 so I'm not even going to bother with any OC at all. Maybe if I get one of those Catleap Q270s I'll try to bump it up a tiny bit.

what issue? You mean the bug where it goes to 1fps and doesn't load past the opening vids? That's a problem with the new beta drivers when you have max prerendered frames set to 1. Install the WHQL drivers and it'll be gone.

So either use the new betas set to max prerendered frames as application controlled or use the WHQL version.

Also uninstalling physx from the 304.48 betas and installing the one available stand alone fixes a couple issues as well.

if you are talking about the 1fps issue when starting the game then just hit alt enter for windowed mode until you load the game and then go back to full screen. I think it goes back to 1fps if you go to menu again or another cut scene though. lol, aint pc gaming great?

btw my gtx670 is on its way back to newegg...

much easier to just do what I said then to get the vsync stuttering that the WHQL drivers caused in many games.

many reasons. some games were still hitching for me with vsync on that ran fine with it off. also some games that I was hoping to run smoother at higher settings did not either because the game itself has issues(Batman AC or GTA 4) or either the minimums still could not be high enough to give a better experience then I was already getting.

also it seems my max clocks during testing were getting lower and lower. at first even 1300 was stable but by the end of last week it could not even maintain 1277 in the same benchmarks without crashing.

really at this point I am not all that interested in pc gaming. it seems like it is always some issue that needs to be fixed yet new drivers foul up almost as many things as they fix. I had great experiences with my gtx260 and even my gtx570 for the most part but it really seems like issues, either hardware or game related, get worse by the month.

Or set max prerendered frames to application controlled. Fixed all the 1fps bugs for me.

Especially in Deusex when you look at certain things in the game or get to certain spots it's back to 1fps. Can't keep going to window and back.

um its already set to application setting by default so no that does not fix it.

I always set it to 1 and I read something about setting it to application controlled and sure enough...fixed.
again mine was left at default just like 99% of other people leave it and we all get the 1fps issue so no that does not fix anything.
