ChAoS_AD,

Do you have pics of your setup?

Also, You might get better gpu scaling with some cpu overclocking. Try and up the speed on that 990 and see if it helps. Not that you need more performance, but who knows :p

When overclocking an intel extreme edition cpu by upping the multiplier, windows will still read the cpu speed at stock even though it's running faster. I usually keep it between 4.6-4.7. My Vantage run was ran with physx off. The main score to look at is the gpu/graphics score for both Vantage and 3DMark11.

What gamers do these days just to get a few extra fps and higher resolution. Honestly those gaps between monitors would annoy me but other wise cool computer!

Woah dude, sick. Is that on a PCIE 2.0 or 3.0 board? If it is 2.0 does running the 580s x8 x4 x4 give you a decent bump over dual SLI 580s x8 x8 or haven't you checked. Just wondering if they are being starved of bandwidth
Yes, that's on PCIE 2.0 running at x16 x8 x8, and yes they gave me a pretty decent bump (something like 25% more, not shure), over 2SLI 580s x16 x16 on my mobo GA Z68X-UD7-B3.

I want to play! I want to play!

Intel Core i7 3960X @ 4200MHz
Asus P9X79 Deluxe @ 42 x 100MHz
16GB Corsair XMS3 @ 2133 DDR
Three GTX 580 in Tri-SLI @ 850/2200
120GB Vertex 3 SSD
Two 3TB Deskstar 7K3000 in RAID-0 - 6TB
1TB SpinPoint F1
Samsung 22X SH-S223L DVD-RW
Sound Blaster X-Fi HD USB
Cooler Master HAF-X case
Prolimatech Megahalems cooling
Corsair AX1200 power supply

I only use a slight bump in voltages for these overclocks. Runs pretty cool with air cooling.

Wow, nice rig dude, but I'm a little bit disappointed by the scores: only 10% approx. over the Z68 chip and 2600K processor (my scores), expected more form X79 chip and 3960X.
PS. Could You run a 3DM11 at eXtreme, and post the results (just to compare)?

Am I the only one entertained by the fact that there's a picture of the keyboard... and a picture of the mouse... But not a picture of Quad-SLI 590's?

This thread is great. It'll be interesting to see if someone with 3x HD7970s provides benches in a couple of months to compare. So far it looks like 3x GTX580 are actually better than Quad-SLI 590s.

Wow.. Necro thread...

Nice to see some others posting their results!

Have made a couple of updates since those Quad-SLI GTX-590s!

Now I'm running EVGA GTX-580 Classified (3GB) 4-Way SLI @ 960MHz/2200MHz!

Can someone help me figure something out?

If you look at my scores, especially 3DMark 11, the Physics score is pretty LOW at just a hair over 10,000! I've seen guys with 2600Ks get more than 11,000 and others with the same CPU (990X) around the same clocks (~ 4.4GHz) also get more than 11,000. Why is my Physics score so low? I am quite sure if I can get that to around 11,000, I can get the Performance preset score to around 20k!

Adam>> that 3960X has a FILTHY Physics score man! More than 14,000! Incredible!

Picked up a Mamba 4G also!

I'm think that 3DM11 only test CPU (not VGA) for PhysX.
BTW, awesome scores Basha.

Thanks man!

With regards to the Physics score in 3DMark 11, I know it tests the CPU. That's why I asked about it because there are guys who have the same CPU (990X) around the same OC who get Physics scores of around 11,000.

Some guys with 2600k, which is not as good as the 990X as far as processing power is concerned, get 11,000! My question is, why am I not getting similar Physics scores?

Time to buy a $200+ digicam to give that $5k rig the justice it deserves!

lol.. are you talking about my rig? I think you are off by about $5k. XD

The monitors alone are more than $4k. Add the 990X and 4 gtx-580 Classified (that's another ~$4k)... and it adds up quickly. (including tax of course)

I will be doing some reviews etc. soon..
