Which card is ≤ 9'
And which card is better in term of perfomance ?
I can get XFX 5850 Brank Spanking new for 200 after Rebate
However case I have is AntecSolo.
The reason I am upgrading the card cause my GTX 260 is too long to fit it my Antec Solo.
So please advise shall I keep XFX 5850 or return that and get get a GTX 460
Thanks

Evga is shorter. 8.25 inches. Most 5850s are 9.5. Send a link to the model though because xfx has several models. Some are actually longer. None are as short as the evga. I have both cards.

Also consider that EVGA's GTX460 models have plug connections at the end, making them effectively longer. Most GTX460 models have plugs on the top, making them effectively taller. The XFX models all have plugs at the end, I believe, so they are all effectively longer than 9.5". Here's the model I'm guessing you're looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150477

So GTX460 is almost definitely going to be easier to fit in your case, although keep in mind that the GTX260 is longer than both (at 10.5" I believe).

Thanks Termie
I think XFX I bought have has to back to retailer :( It is XFX-585X-ZAFC
EvGA 260 Cannot Fit in at all.
5850 Can be a Tight Fit
However I think I would go with GTX 460
PWR cable on top is not the issue I have a room for that

I wouldn't touch XFX, because I don't trust their PCB.

There are few vendors that use red PCB or blue which is usually means its cheap. I mean the GPU is fine in there just the card itself , just like a cheap motherboard compared to quality of ASUS or GIGABYTE.

I think the 460 would be faster then the 6850 from what Ive read. Cuz a 6850 is essentially a 5850 with some design changes.. Less power drawn etc.

LOL. Thanks tviceman. Im speaking logic tho. Its a fact for VC and motherboards especially of cheap PCB and other vendors having better PCB ,, just how ASUS and GIGABYTE are green quality PCB a BFG or XFX or Pny etc.....or EPOX is cheaper components on the mobo imo and from what Ive read. I forgot where I saw it said blue PCB is cheap so is red, Im not just making it up. Anyhow,,

Im just saying EVGA and GIGABYTE and ASUS use higher quality motherboard and video card PCBs. :) gg and gl,

Please link to a GTX460 with the plugs on top. I haven't seen a single one.

It would be awesome of Newegg had pics from all angles, instead of useless angles.

Looks like MSI, Gigabyte, and EVGA have plugs at the end though. So it's about evenly split between plugs at the end and plugs at the top.

Each one has views from all angles, by the way. Maybe you have popups blocked, because the pics come up that way.

Thanks. I thought you meant the top as in the backside so that's where I was looking

Much smarter location than the front, where you usually have hard drives etc.

On NewEgg when you click on view, click on the rotation view button and you can drag the picture around so you can see the plug placement.

Yeah. Yeah you are. The pigment used to color pressed circuit boards has no effect on the quality of said board. It could be irridescent pink with Peuce polka dots if a vendor wanted to spend the extra dough on getting it that way.

I had a similar restriction and went with a 460. Very happy with it. It's the EVGA and it has the plugs on the end and still fits with room to spare in a space constrained HTPC. If you want to alleviate heat issues in the case you can get the "EE", external exhaust, version and get better case temps in exchange for slightly more noise from the card.

Great card for 1080P gaming.

Don't buy that one. It is overpriced for a 768MB card. All of the 768MB cards overclock to the same level, so there's no need to buy this superclocked version, since it's more expensive than some 1GB models. Buy this if you want 768MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130562

This is a good deal for the 1GB model: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130570

I am looking for a Video card which has a Lifetime Warrantty.
Cause my Original GTX 8800 Got me a GTX 260.
Also I kinda like EVGA as a company too
I dunno other player like Zoac
Also I dunno is GTX 260 Better then 5850 ?
However I would like cooler and quiter card if I could get it
or I should wait for 6870 ?

Have you considered a 6850? Sure it's slower than a 5850, but faster than a GTX460 (stock vs stock) in most benchmarks:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/3987/...renewing-competition-in-the-midrange-market/8

Be sure to check out all the benchmarks in that review, not just the linked Crysis ones.

These cards are shorter than the 5850's. They also take less power under load vs the 460. You can get an XFX one for 200 shipped here:

http://www.amazon.com/XFX-6850-775M-...0997015&sr=8-1

Personally, I use an EVGA GTX460 and it works great, but if someone were to give me a 6850 vs a 460, I'd pick the 6850 in a heartbeat.

I'd get GTX 460 and overclock it, 5850 will not stand a chance, but for that price, I'd just buy HD6850 which once overclocked will pass the overclocked 460s. so bang/buck I'd say the hd6850 at 200ish range.

PS like the previous poster mentioned when overclocked on both cards, the 6850 takes up about 40W less at load while been faster than the 460 OCed.

I do use CS4 and can take benfit of Cuda
Hower I think I am toren between 460 or 6870
Price Vs Perfomance
Since they all sub 9' so they can fit in my case
My OC days are behind me......... so I will take stock setting from Factory (what ever be there FACTORY oc or etc )
I have notice nVidia have better Image Quality
Cause ATi has not impress me yet

This is not correct - all 6870s are over 9 inches, so that's not the card you want. Also, several 6850s are over 9 inches because they are built on 6870 PCBs. You should research this to make sure you don't get a card that is too big. All GTX460s that I have seen are on the shorter 8.25" PCB.

This article provides dimensions for 4 models of 6850 cards: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-6850-eah6850-ax6850,2794.html
