Who cares who's cheating. I don't spend more than $150 on a video card anyway. They can do whatever they want. Not getting my business anyway.

Quoted for truth and emphasis.

Without regards to who wins the speed contest...

ATI has a sordid history of support and customer service. While I'm sure its better today, it forever stained my view of their company.

I won't personally spend over $250 for a video card.

You will always be 1 generation behind if you are not willing to pay atleast $300
anyway, it depend on person, i play very few games but i play it at max resolutin my monitors support, 2 years ago i was satisfied with my GF2, now i am unsatisfied with my Radeon 9700 pro,NFSHP2 really suck at 1600x1200 with 9700 pro and barely playable with 9800 pro, this is the way life is...................................

I think this is surely the best deal on this card. But I don't think this is hot. I mean i would say a hot deal is some thing so good that it makes you want to go out any buy even if you werent seriously considering it or ven really need it. This is sooo far out of the price range that its silly. I mean $500 is more than my whole PC.

SRK,

I thought that benches I ahve seen indicate that NFSHP2 is a cpu limited game except at the highest res and fsaa/aaf settings. Maybe you should upgrade your CPU.

Dude i have Xp2600+ on 1 pc with 9700 pro, game sucks at 1600x1200,
On other PC its P4 2.53 9800 pro(now sole) it did just 31 FPS at 1600x1200😱.
I can understand 1600x1200 is really cranking the card but if i wanted to play at 1024x768 my GF3 is sufficient...............
You know, i am human...............never satisfied😛:wine:

Why do I not believe this?

i once spent $350 on a video card, it was a hercules gf2 gts2. i was young, i was stupid, and i will never spend more than $100 for a video card ever again.

Spend atleast $180 to get a decent video card. Sub $100 cards are pure crap.
Is it me or has the price dropped. Price:US479.00
Too bad it isn't the eVGA e-GeForce FX 5900 Ultra.

Yea, I would have to say that $200 is my limit now a days. I am not really impressed by the performance of any of the current Top Of The Line cards. The TI4X00 serries is more than enough to play 90% of the games I am interested in at the settings I prefer 1280x1024, trilinear filtering, (maybe) 2x fsaa... For the rest I can lower to 1024x768 or whatever if need be. I have lost more than $300 on upgrading video cards this year only to be dissapointed with how they failed to perform any better than solutions that cost $100s less. Its not worth it.

Man, if any of you guys considers this a "HOT Deal", then you really don't need to be here in the Hot Deals forums cause if you can afford this video card, then you have money to blow. Now if this card was selling for under $300 then it might qualify, but I still wouldn't buy it.

dude this same card is selling for $589 in other stores and lockal shops in retail.
I admit this is still costly but its good $100 cheaper than what you can find in many places, also hot deal dosent mean it should be less than $300!!!!!!!!!
It depends on product, this is high end product just entering the market, and many people will buy it as they can afford it.
Why you people start a critics war here? ebjoy the deal and if you dont wana buy it then chill out and wait, this is the best deal i found on this earth for this card.
And did I mention this is retail card?
And i saw the post above saying "too bad this isent e-geforce fx"
i confirmed about this and this is e-geforce series card retail pack.
Ordered one just an hour ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🙂

I never pay more than $200 also for cards, I wait for a hot deal, or for the prices to go down, then I jump on it. I just can not see paying the $489 shipped for that card ouch...

5900 Ultra 256 MB for less that 500 bucks, $489 shipped to be exact.
Its on right now Here.

Wow what a great deal... lmao

Does anyone remember the TNT2 days when high end ment a 200 dollar card? lol those were the days!

$11 bucks saved a hot deal? I don't see how this is a hot deal. Now if it were for $150 from $500, that would be a hot deal.

Hey all,

Not that i would pay $490 for a vid card..or even the $380ish that the ati goes for for that matter, but i do find it funny how the reviews posted above all show the ATI 9800 holding its own, and even solidly beating the FX 5900 while Anand's review shows the FX 5900 TROUNCING the ATI 9800 link And dont say its because ATI or Nvidia cheated, Anand used Doom 3 for benchmarking, and stated that neither the ATI or Nvidia drivers were optimized for Doom 3. Im not saying that the Nvidia is better, but i am wondering why there is such a varience in benchmarking?

Hmm..yea..not so hot. This post looks for like an "ADVERTISEMENT" than a hot deals post. This site a friend of yours SRK? or Is it yours?

BTW... Aren't you the Guy that Sells HIGH-END Video Cards like these in the FS/FT Forum but also Have them for Sale on EGAY? Just like this Website you Linked? Fishy??

I stopped reading this thread about halfway though and don't really have any comment except that guru3d has to be the worst gaming/hardware/etc site I've seen to date.

Dude.......i live in india and website is USA based listed at pricewatch, and for your kind information i have sold my cards(9800 pro) and now buying this from money that i got from selling my old cards. Did you see my thread active anymore? and for your information i sold them on ebay only.
i was searching at pricewatch and got this website which is cheapest to offer 256 MB version.
Rest is up to you.
I have had business with them before and liked their customer service and support , thats it.

and frankqfrank is you dont like guru3d its ur decision, i love them, its not about hardware reviews only, it posts all those little news also, look at their archieve . those are very hard working bunch of people and i apperitiate their work.

"Sub $100 cards are pure crap."
"i was young, i was stupid, and i will never spend more than $100 for a video card ever again. "

I gotta agree. When I built my pc, the nicest thing for under $70 was a Geforce 2 GTS, so I picked one up. Well, it decided to die, so I checked out Pricewatch and some shops, and lo! The Radeon 9100 was available for $65. Well? This is a renamed R8500. Not even 2 years ago, the card was the champion $399 card (though it did take more drivers to make it faster than the Ti-500, which caught up again with new Det drivers).

Moral? Stuff gets cheaper. Stay a bit behind the edge a bit, and be like me, picking up $65 video cards 🙂 (If you have a bit of $ to burn, then spend a little more for a Ti-4200, yes, but going up too high on the ladder isn't worth it imho).

Ionizer86
I agree, but you see you take computer gaming different way than me.
With 9100 you will not be able to run latest games with AS for more than 1024x768 at acceptable framerates, it depends on personal choice.
Even my radeon 9700 was not able to crunch out more that 45 FPS in latest games at resolutions higher than 1024x768.
You see, I prefer resolutions of 1600x1200, at this resolution AA is not needed but AS does improve image quality very much and i can only do this with cards powerful enough like 9800 pro 256 MB or GF FX 5900 ultra.
I quit playing games at 1024x768 when i bought Geforce 4 ti 4400 about a year ago.
I agree that people who are satisfied by 1024x768 wont need anything more that Geforce 3.
Also about 9100, 9100 is not 8500, its scealed down version of 8500LE. Its slower than 8500 and forget AA and AS at higher resolutions.

I dont know what games you play but if you get chance try games like NFS HP2, FIFA 2003, NHL 2003, HITMAN 2(game is not so good but graphics A+++++), GTA III, MAFIA. These games really give high punishment to your cards at high resolutions, and DOOM III demo ran at 20 FPS at 1600x1200......................I was shocked to see that 9800 PRO 256 MB card was showing frames in this game...............Even GF FX 5900 does only abot 30 FPS AT 1600x1200 but hey better than 20..........
