When do I pull the trigger on this mofu

$270 to the door step

Do I wait until the 580 comes out until prices fall even more or should I pull the trigger on this mofu. With this card I want all games to run fast with 2304x1440 res 0AA 16x AF high quality ..I rather have that res with 0 AA then have 1920x1200 with 4xAA , what do yall think ? oh and Ill keep the 8800GT use it as phsyx card.

Pay 14 more dollars and get this one. It should overclock to gtx480 speeds and be much cooler and quieter.

GTx470 superoverclock.

Another step forward in comparison to the stock heatsink is the Super Overclock’s noise profile. One would expect that the trio of 80mm fans would need to literally scream in order to sufficiently cool the fin array but that doesn’t happen. Due to the surface area of the heatsink, all of the core’s heat is well distributed across a fairly large area which means the fans don’t need to work all that hard. The result is an amazingly quiet experience.

@Tweakboy

that is a really nice card and decent price (esp compaired to how insane the 480s are in price vs little gain over one of these cards).

You could wait 3 weeks for the 6950-6970s to come out, Im 99% sure that they ll force nvidia to lower their 470s and 480 prices.

Anyone have any info on when or at least around what time frame the 580 will be released?

"Superclocked"... 18MHz more than reference. How did they pull that off and still keep it warrantied?! :)

or bring out there new cards.

I think we'll be waitng a bit before Nvidia brings out new parts. At least a while after we get the 69xx parts. Just a hunch.

How many threads do you need? I mean, no offence, but update your facebook status when you change your mind, dont make a new thread. Or whatever social networking nonsense. In any event, for the 3rd thread in a row, id say get a 6850, and OC it. Better yet, get 2, 6850 OC in Xfire is best value there is right now more or less. Or if you want a single card, wait until 69xx, or get the 6870. If you really have the patience, maybe even whatever Nvidia is releasing, ive heard paper release December, real release February.

have fun with all that noise and heat.:eek:

Good deal... I think either way you'll be happy if you get a card that does what you want. I didn't experience the heat and noise issues that other people did... Then again I have 3 fans in my PC case.

Would it be cheaper or better just to get a reference speed and overclock it? I have a reference GTX470 and so far have no need to overclock it. If I did is my current PSU enough?

@Tweakboy - I understand what you are currently going through... I went from a GTX 460, to ATI 5850, to waiting for the AMD 6870 then I finally got a GTX 470... I was very discombobulated for a good month - once I bought the GTX470 I was very happy and went on with my life...:awe:
