With lofty specs such as 490+ core and 1300+ memory, the e-GeForce 7800 GTX KO Edition w/ ACS³ is guaranteed to knock your socks off! ACS³ is the next generation of graphics card cooling that builds on the lessons in design, usability, and materials technology that EVGA has learned in the process of designing their earlier ACS and ACS² cooling systems.

EVGA also offers lifetime warranty with 24/7 tech support! (888) 881-EVGA (3842)

Where does it say there's a lifetime warranty? I bought an eVGA 6800GT 2 weeks ago and they only gave me two year warranty.

thoughts from Hard:

As you can see from the diagram above, there is little if any "new" technology here. In fact, I have my suspicions that if the plating on the front did not cover the entire card (?a planar metallic cover plate having an external perimeter configuration that generally corresponds to the plan-form of the printed circuit board used in the graphics card assembly?), that a patent might not have ever been awarded. In my opinion there is little if anything new here to base the ACS³ marketing on, unless of course you are an unsuspecting consumer that does not know better. Do you want a cooler on your brand new $599 video card that is based on cooling technology from 2002? Actually, I am sure single large-finned heatsinks go back way further than that.

Of course, we have yet to actually see the new ACS³ system from eVGA, so we can hope that our thoughts and suspicions are not justified. But from the patent cited with ACS³, it looks as if they were planning on "covering up" the technology for years now, until of course you realize, the cover IS the technology. Wow. That had better be one hell of a cover for $120.

LoL :D

So, Kensai, when and why do the looks of a videocard matter?

If people are very into case modding, then the looks mean a great deal to them.
Of course it really doesn't matter to most folks. No effect on how it performs.
Superficial is subjective. I would say it matters most to those that bring their modded PC's to LAN events to show off their hardware. No biggie. Live and let live.

Unless it offers revolutionary cooling, it's a waste of a good amount of money. That card better never see temps over 70C. Ever. For that money.

I have done quite a bit of modding to my case... looks are very imoprtant to me. I would be not be happy about spending alot of money and hours and hours of work on the exterior of my case only to have a crappy looking inside (and being that I have a window, I will see it). I spend quite a long time on cable management and such to insure my PC looks as best as it can inside and out. To me... looks, even on a video card, are improtant. However, I wouldnt really call evga's new offering a solution to this. This card is ass ugly IMO.

The ACS^3 is poop. I would rather get an Arctic Cooler NV version for the 7800s.

So would I, but do they fir or is there a version out for the 7800GTX yet?

490 and 1300 could be done with non ACS3 GTX.

Need to see benchmarks before even thinking about it.
With the multiple clock domains I dont want to buy into marketing fluff that doesnt see an actual increase in performance.
