Thinking about getting a 6600gt, but the requirements is a minimum of a 350 watt power supply. I have a pretty good Fortron 300W power supply. Would that be good enough or do I need a new P/S?

Yours should easily be good enough. They inflated the power requirement to compensate for very poor power supplies. A decent quality 200W should be able to run a typical system with a 6600GT.

Yeah Fortron is a good brand so it should be enough.
Im not so sure about 200W PS though, 6600gt i remember uses more than half as much power as 7800gtx.

u may be correct

anandtech article has
AT power consumption

system with 6600GT at idle = 119W
system with 6600GT at full load = 204 W
system with 7800GTX at full load = 253 W

a system 6600GT is only 49W less than 7800GTX. Anyway OP 300W Fortron is enough but I think a 250W no brand would have problems.

My rig, when with a single 6600GT and without the Fatal1ty ate up around 200W (rig only, no monitor)...
Now it's 300W loaded... / 110W idle...so I also got lots of room with my PSU...depending on your processor, you should be fine...
