EVGA 8800 GTS blackscreen

hello just got a 8800 gts and installed it. everything was fine before windows loads. once windows started loading(the progress bar thingy), the screen went black. and i could hear the sound of windows successfully loaded.but i couldnt see anything but a black screen. appreciate any help and by installed it, i mean plug the card in the pcie slot, not installed the actual driver. so after i installed it i couldnt even load into windows


my specs:
acer AL2223w monitor
Xfinity 600w psu http://shop3.outpost.com/product/4548667
amd opteron 165
asrock dual939 sata2
2gb ram

I have similar problems w/my 8800GTX but happens coming out of sleep mode. the driver notes say it is a known defect but I wasn't looking for info on startup. You might want to check which driver version you're running and look to see if it might be a limitation of the driver.

cant even load into window, let alone install the driver

load into window safe-mode first then try to install the driver from there.
Or try another dvi port too.
