I am sorry to bring this up again. But I am really torn on these two cards here. If I can just pick one and go with it I should be good for my upgrade, but I am totally torn.

EVGA

Powercolor

The powercolor is $5 more than the 7900gt with the rebates. Without the rebates the powercolor is $5 less.

I have had a 9800pro for along time. I got tired of fighting driver issues, but lately the drivers seem good. Honestly is one of these cards going to be better than the other?

I would go for the radeon to get HDR+AA, personally I'm waiting for G80 midrange cards for my next upgrade.

Get the X1950. The next round of mid-range stuff won't be along until February.

Spend a bit extra and get an x1900xt or x1950xt 256. I bet within a month they will be around 225-230 new and at or sub 200 used.

Best Buy has a PNY 7900GS on sale for $150 with no rebates. Better deal than both cards in the price/performance ratio.

Yeah, and that card has a proven OC track record (a good one). I'm going to pick one up friday.

Not really ... 7900gs will not hold up good in future games i suggest a X1950pro for $199.

example Oblivion:

$250 X1900XT 256MB : 26.8
$250 7900GTO : 16.9

$250 7900GT : 12

get the x1950 pro.The one from powercolor should be slightly overclocked and have 512mb of ram and the arctic cooling accelero cooling.
The best buy.Or get the HIS ICEQ3 version of the x1950 pro.
Either of those will be the best buy.Though the extra memory in the x1950 pro from powercolor will help.
Go powercolor

The powercolor x1950 pro has only 256mb of vRAM...
Get it in any case if you don't want to OC.

I would go with the X1950PRO. You get similiar/better performance with much better IQ. The Artic Cooling Cooler is also a ~$30 value you have to consider as well. It is a wonderful cooler, that is dead silent in my system @ 100% fan speed 24/7. It also cooled by X1800XT down by 15-20C. I think the X1950PRO is the clear winner.

What are the iq advantages here? Cause right now the pny 7900gs is $66 (shipping included) less than the powercolor card.

Sapphire card is less expensive than the Powercolor card you selected.
Go for Sapphire.
