It seems my card has died. A8n-SLI premium with award bios is giving me 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps on post. Removed card, same beep code.

Just thought I would post this for those who might be considering buying this card. Might want to give it/EVGA some more time, as this thing is really pushing the limits it might have some issues.

Just looking to pass the time untill I hear back from the '24/7 live phone support'

-Update-Issue Resolved. The card is fine. The motherboard has a bad pci-e slot.

I don't know. This is my only pci-e system so I don't have another card laying around. I'm looking into the beep code some more to make sure thats what it is, but as of right now the card seems to have a problem.

I have another 8x pci-e slot, but I doubt installing into that would work and could possibly do additional damage.

You can use a normal PCI video card if you have one, or know of anyone who has one. They are really cheap, and its always good to have one around.

Yeah.. I turned everything off removed and reinstalled with the extra power plugged in and still get the beep code.

Can't believe I forgot that, but it posted to bios a few times no problem. I didn't make any video changes either just enabled the Nvraid quit and saved. Then restarted and no bios just beep code?

Guess I will try clearing the cmos? Maybe that will get me going.

I've forgotten a couple times before too, not a big deal.

Try to figure out what the beep codes are for your mobo. That will give you a good idea of the problem.

One long beep followed by 2 short beeps. The Award bios page said that beep code meant a problem with the video adapter. The EVGA manual said the same thing.

I unplugged everything, main power, aux power, GPU,cpu fan, floppy drive, sata's,etc. The only things left plugged in were my CPU (3200 win) and RAM (2x512XMS)

Then I followed the 6 steps to clear RTC RAM/CMOS in section 2.6 of manual.
Reconnceted everything except my plextor SATA and hard drives' SATA and tried to post.

IT WORKED!! so I hit f10, the pc exited bios but didn't power down. After a few seconds I got the dreaded beep code as if it were attempting a restart?

"System failed VGA test" According to the Asus post reporter.. Looks like the last post was the last one, must have gotten "lucky" on that one.

Looks like it's RMA time for this card. I wish I had some way to check the mobo slot, because it's either a bad card or a bad slot-or both..

Any suggestions short of spending more money on another pci-e card?

I might take the card to a local pc shop maybe they can check it?

Yeah I thought about saying something like that, lol. I could have fed a small village for what this POS cost me.

I have a new a8n sli deluxe sitting here. Bought it last spring and never used it. It shall become the test mobo for this card. Still a chance I could be gaming on the 'new' system before the weekend is over, but I doubt it.

At least it will make the RMA go faster when I tell them I put it in 2 mobos and got the "System failed EVGA test" on both..

I dont get evga's 24/7 live phone support, its phone support hours are still listed the same times as before on they're website.

LOL, I would say that after today their claim of 24/7 live phone support is slightly exaterated.

This is my third card by EVGA and they all seem to have the same problem with fitting in my cases.

As I was installing this one last time in my other board (a8n-sli Deluxe) I noticed the metal retention bracket (the one with the fastener notch in it) was keeping the card from going completely into the pci-e slot.

Why the heck I never checked this possibility earlier makes no sense as it's happened twice before on a 4200 and 6600gt.

That would be great if this solved the problem then all I have to do is change back to the premium and I should be set. <sighs>

The premium must have a bad pci-ex16 slot as the other mobo(deluxe) posted just fine. What a pain in the ass. Thank you to all who helped.
