EVGA 680i Motherboard going bad. Need new recommendation!

I currently have an EVGA 680i running SLI. Here are my full system specs...

EVGA 680i Motherboard
Quad Core 6600 2.4 gig
2 EVGA 8800 GTS PCI Express cards running in SLI
8GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
Creative Labs X-Fi
2 1TB Seagate drives running in RAID 1
Cooler Master 1000w Power Supply
2 DVD-RW drives
Windows Vista x64

My 680i board is pretty much dead. I am running on borrowed time with another 680i board that I have to return to a friend of mine. So I am looking for a suitable upgrade. I am not married to EVGA so I am looking for some suggestions.

I am considering a move to a 780i board or maybe even a 790i board. EVGA has a 790i FTW board that looks very nice.

I would need to purchase some better memory, but I could run with all my existing hardware which is what I want to do. Another option I have is to purchase another 680i and just sit with what I have.

What suggestions do you have?

I am also investigating going with an RMA with EVGA before I go down the road of replacing my board.

The 780i is going to be a much better fit for me, thats true. Especially if I want to keep my existing hardware. Heck, the system is only 1 year old and I don't forsee replacing it until the end of 2009 at the earliest.

I don't have an answer. So far, EVGA's engineers haven't been able to figure it out so I am going to go the route of getting it RMAed. I hate to spend more on a system now when the one I built is only a year old. However, I am tempted to just upgrade the board still.

I still have my EAR with eVGA and I have a 680i-A1 that recently died from a memory controller failure. Going to RMA it. I would recommend as eVGA's customer service rocks.

I also own a 680i for almost 2 years now and I would recommend just trying to RMA your existing board over purchasing anything new.

The 780i is just a 680i with PCI-Express 2.0 support.

The 790i requires DDR3 but does not support the new Core i7 processors.

I'd wait until next year some time when the prices have come down on DDR3 memory and there are more Core i7 processors available before you make a decision.

If your having a issue with the brand just try something else.
I'd recommend you the GB P35-DS3L if you weren't going SLI.
