eVGA 6800GT PCI-e or Leadtek 6800GT PCI-E?

Been reading the forums but can't decide between these 2 cards. Need to order soon since I'm building a new system. I'd just assume go with the leadtek since I know they make good stuff and its a little cheaper but the fan and heatsink look huge on these. I'm eventually gettn 2 of these for SLI too. Havent seen any reviews on the Leadtek either. Any advice would be appreciated.

Leadtek is good I know, was a little worried about the heatsinks on those they look very big and heard they may be a problem in SLI. Read some pretty good revoews of the XFX but in reading here, theres been some problems, so I'm royally confused now.

On a side note is a Antec 480 True Blue psu enough power for a single 6800 GT, 2 hdd's and 2 optical drives in a Asus Deluxe SLI board? I'll be getting a new psu when I add a 2nd 6800gt.

eVGA is the best brand out there for nVidia cards, right alongside BFGtech.

I myself would go with the eVGA, but if I had to, I would easily go for the Leadtek... I am not much on brand for video cards, as it does not matter as much as some other important aspects of the computer, but eVGA is definitely a brand I'd prefer given the choice.

Either one, as both companies have a good reputation for making solid cards.

eVGA seems to be nVidia's main partner now, but Leadtek puts more of their own effort into it (changing heatsinks, in the past have put on their own VGA/DVI transmitters so that their cards have superior 2D quality).

I would get whichever one has the better warranty.

Do you guys have any knowledge of the large heatsink on the leadtek? They look huge and just making sure you can run 2 of these leadtek's in SLI.

Thanks for the quick replies.

If you can run 2 6800ultras in SLI, I'm sure the 2 slot Leadtek coolers will be able to do it too. Also, from what I've heard, the Leadtek is supposed to have a very quiet fan.

Yes the leadtek is supposed to be quiter, and it should fit fine in SLI mode. EVGA and Leadtek are in the same ballpark as far as quality.

Does anyone know why Leadtek uses like a 2 card configuration, look how big that heatsink is. Dont see how you can run 2 of these in SLI but it says that it is SLI ready.

I have two Leadtek 6800GTs in SLI mode on my Asus A8N-SLI. The Asus board has more space between the two PCI-E slots so they fit fine. The best piccy I have is below:

They do look pretty impressive, but I reckon you may have to remove the plastic covering to get two of them to fit on any board other than the ASUS. That said, the reason I bought them is because of the great heatsink - it really does the job!

i have a AGP Leadtek 6800GT, and yes it is one heavy mofo, but it cools like a charm, and when its coupled with a sturdy case and motherboard (think Antec and Asus like i have here😀) then the weight isnt really an issue, maybes when transporting it is but i dont do that often, and always make a habbit og having my rig lay on its side so the weight is pressing down on the mobo...that way nothings gonna snap when i go over a bump

as for 2D, this card is crystal clear, ive compared it to my friends galaxy 6800gt (one with the pre-installed NV5 silencer) and i have to say my 2D was sharper

jhbodle-

What psu are you running with the 2 6800 gt's? And I do have the Asus board like you so its good two know 2 leadtek's will fit.

With so little in performance between the cards I STILL don't know why BFG doesn't win hands down with a LIFETIME warranty. BFG for me.

VisionTek had lifetime warranties too! need I say more?

rpd162 - I was originally running a 1.1kW dual PSU setup, with one 550W PSU dedicated to the two graphics cards. However, this soon became impractical and the cards wouldn't overclock, so I junked the dual PSU setup and am now running a PC Power & Cooling 510 Deluxe SLI PSU - runs great and the cards overclock much better too! If you have the Asus board I would go for the Leadtek just because you get better cooling for your money. Trust me, the heatsink really is impressive.
