In response to the screenshots, my 5900 Ultra (eVga) can do the same. Also, about framerates, the 6800 U is getting significantly less than the X800 XT in Far Cry, and many other games. Granted, these scores are as much as DOUBLE that of the 9800 XT, so dont whine....
Power consumption is one thing that scares me....
Next is that they are OCing the GPU to pull ahead, fine but it potentially cuts down the life of the card, and with a 1 yr warranty, I'd be scared.
The 6800U may be better for the mere reason of having Cine Shader 3.0, which allows for many more instructions than the X800 XT can handle, so it will be a card to last longer in games. Granted, CineShader 3.0 is not in Doom 3 or HL2, but it is coming.
In the long run, they are both good cards. Perfomance wise, the X800 XT wins out (the Pro is also good, but not as good as the XT or 6800U)
The 6800U is right behind the X800 XT in performance, and the AA doesnt look to bad. However, it cannot handle dense forests seen in BF Vietnam like the X800 XT can at High res. If you want to buy a card now, and not upgrade anytime soon, get the 6800U, though I think BFG does a nice job with their 6800U OC, with a good warranty. nVidia is renowned for its "rock solid" drivers and good support, and I can affirm this. ATi however, is VERY lackluster in forms of drivers and support. I know this from expierence, unfortunatly.
On the other hand, if you want to upgrade in a year, get the X800 XT. I am building a comp with a 939 pin FX-53 and a 6800U that I will not be upgrading, so im looking more for the future life of the computer.
