Do you guys think it would be worthwhile to upgrade from the 560 ti to one of the newer cards? Current build has a 2500k at 4.5 Ghz in a P8Z77 Pro MoBo. Already using SSD, but I feel my biggest upgrade would come from a new GPU. I run two 1920x1080 sync masters with the card currently. Let me know what you guys think.

Check out this review just published yesterday. It has tested 15 games or so at 1080P 4AA/8AA/SSAA and has power consumption numbers with dual monitors.

I would say if you are planning on using 1 monitor during gaming and don't mind overclocking, an HD7950 for $310 or $320 is a good price/performance option.

If you want a more power efficient card than the 7970 and don't want to overclock, Gigabyte GTX670 Windforce 3x for $400 is a good option as well. NV excels with dual monitors for idle power consumption.

If you want to game on 2 monitors and want to overclock the card heavily for the best performance, something like an HD7970 1000mhz OC for $420 is going to be a good option.

Value wise, if you can find HD7950 MSI TwinFrozr for $320 or so, it's hard to beat at 1.1ghz+. If you mainly play BF3 and Guild Wars 2, GTX670 is a safe option since NV cards do well in those 2 games 🙂. If you don't play with MSAA, then maybe the GTX660Ti is all you'd need. Wait 2 more days for reviews on that card.

The overclockers card to grab is the 7970ghz edition, although drivers will be a limiting factor going AMD, you still get full voltage control and a simple aftermarket cooler will keep the card extremely cool.

If you want better drivers, image quality, less power consumption and don't care much about overclocking the 670 is the way to go. Overclocking kinna sux on 670's due to thermal/voltage limitations.

PS: If you can hold out I'd wait another six months or so, you should get a lot more for your money in less than a year that's for certain.

I'm thinking max I would like to spend is $700.00. Took a look at the 7970 Toxic from Sapphire. Not sure if that is worth the premium over the 7970 Ghz edition like the vapor. Really prefer Nvidia, but would love to upgrade to trip monitors.

For 3 monitors, I think you'd be better off with two Vapor-X's than a Toxic.

Please explain that one. I was under the impression that digital images are digital images, even back on the VGA days you had to try VERY hard to find differences in quality.

Back in the day there was some difference. Now though there really isn't.

For 3 monitors, you'll want 2 cards. 2 x HD7950s or 2x GTX670/660Tis.

Here is a good quick look at the differences in setting up 3 monitors for NV and AMD. On the NV side there is a cool surround's bezel-peeking option, which lets you see information behind a bezel with a button.

Here is GTX690 vs. HD7970 GE CF.

If you want to stay under $700 at today's prices, HD7950 CF OCed or GTX660Ti SLI are your options. While the AMD is clearly faster, some say that SLI feels smoother even at lower frame rates.

You could do something like 7950 Windforce + TF3 = $310 + $330 = $640

Otherwise 2x 660Ti or $800 for 670 SLI. 660Ti should launch this week.
