You completely missed the point. Anyone that ever read C&H would know that it wasn't written by Watterson. People who are trying to make points about society often use well-known art, movies, etc. to contrast something people are familiar with to something else.
 
WOW its been alomst 10 years since C&H finished. sooo sad. I used to break out one of the book whenever I was sad or down and read until I was laughing so hard Id cry. There simply will never be a comic as great at Calvin & Hobbes.
