Today is the national launch of Taco Bell's newest bit of God-defying food sodomy, the "Doritos Locos Taco." The inside is your standard Taco Bell Taco; the outside, a hard taco-shaped Dorito. I had some today — to assist Gizmodo's Sam Biddle for his review — and now I'm going to give you the lowdown.

Here's everything you need to know about the Doritos Locos Taco:

It's a Taco Bell taco inside a Dorito.
You can buy it at Taco Bell (suggested retail price: $1.29).
It comes inside a cardboard sleeve to prevent cheese dust from getting all over your fingers.
It tastes like sour cream with a sprinkling of dorito flavoring.
It's fucking gross.
It makes you feel like a beanbag chair filled with vomit.
I ate four.
I wish I was dead.

fuck the haters. it looks delicious and i will try to acquire one this weekend.

they could make it better by sprinkling the top with those crusty flavor bombs you get once in a while at the bottom of a bag of nacho cheese or ranch doritos.

... and yet people like Pottedmeat will eagerly go fill their stomachs with this crap ... and then bitch/moan when they get sick and expect the Gubment (taxpayers) to pick up their Medicaid bills because of their poor choices in life.

No, I'm not bitter. I live in the land of entitlement. A land where the logical and clear-sighted are referred to as "haters".

I can't even stomach the smell of Taco Bell, much less even think about eating anything from there.

i was just going to buy one, but that sounds like a good idea. i think i'll buy a dozen, eat them as quickly as possible, go to the hospital, and bail on the bill :awe:

So he comments "it's fucking gross", but says he ate 4 lol. Hold the Sour Cream it would be a lot better.

It's not bad, but was a little salty.

I actually really liked the shell. If they made the same shell without the Nacho Cheese flavoring (just plain) then it would greatly improve just a plain Taco Bell taco.

A Dorito's hjust a corn chip with seasoning all over it. I'm pretty sure they already have that item, it's called a regular taco :)

The shell they use for the Doritos Taco is lighter and crispier than what they normally use for their taco's. That's what I'm talking about. I'd kind of like to be able to get that shell without the Doritos added.

Had 2 just now, they're not as good as I had hoped, but I do like them better than their normal tacos. To me the shell is more Dorito'esk than a flat out Dorito. But as with any food item I need to try it on a different night to see if the taste changes. The shell wasn't crispy enough, but that could be the fault of the people working tonight. And while it had some Dorito powder and taste to it, it was pretty weak. I got the non supreme one as I hate sour cream and Tomato with a passion. This is TB so obviously they're not good for you, but they're not ZOMG! bad nutrition wise. 170 calories, 80 from fat. I easily fit 2 into my daily macros.

Will eat again, possibly multiple times, and if they release the Cool Ranch flavor they're testing I'll eat those too. Would like for them to retool them a bit and make the shell more cheesy tasting. Perhaps they could make a version that has a shell made from the Taco flavored Doritos. A taco flavored taco might open some sort of alien portal though.

Based on the signage at the local Taco Bell I at least learned something over the weekend. You always refer to Doritos as Doritos whether you're talking about one or multiple. It just feels unnatural. "Give me a Doritos!" just doesn't have a good ring to it.

I thought the same. Without the alien portal bit. :D

We have all these threads about pink slime & crappy ground beef, and then people rave about how "good" Taco Bell is - serving food cheaper at a price cheaper than good dog food? Makes no sense to me.

For a little bit more money, this weekend I bought ground sirloin and had two meals of hamburgers.
