i'm just worried your arms will give out and the bar will crush you before the spotter can stop it.

Nah. My arms never gave out even when I had 300lbs out. I doubt I'll die with 150. (I never tried to bench 300lbs though. 😛 Some of my partners were)

Why are some of you so opposed to a back arch? As long as the ass stays down and his shoulders are set... and he's not squirming like a worm a back arch is fine.

That said, I have $20 that he can't even press 135 once.

So, $20 for 135 and $40 on 150.

I'm down with it. It'll be a struggle because I've been losing weight recently. 😛 I'm going to be lifting in one of my worst shapes. Hah. 😛

Because it's unlikely that a newbie can properly arch and use the lower legs to drive himself into the bench. Arch at an early level is usually associated with weaknesses compensated by lifting the hips off the bench.

Somehow I doubt we're ever going to see video. Either he's never going to go and make excuses about why he can't or he's going to go and fail, pretend like he never went and use the same excuses about why he can't. Either way, it will just be excuses and no video.

or he'll die from the bar being heavier than him

Holy crap, when did this thread become about weightlifting? Say what you will, but Trident threads always deliver.

separated at birth?

I get out enough just fine, living in the city, and recently living in a larger city and at the largest university in the country, helps me keep up to date with the modern vernacular. 😉

well, there's a lot of people in the midwest, and they all pretty much come from the same branch of the tree, and they all go to Ohio State.

I wouldn't call 70,000 slightly different versions of the same culture "cosmopolitan." :sneaky:

Anyway, I agree with what you've said. Just wanted to make a random, pointless, and unnecessary jab at something. It seems to be the order of the thread.
😀

Oh good, I thought it was just me. I make a look of disgust whenever I'm in a store and see short-sleeved collared shirts for sale. Blech.

This confuses me. there are plenty of great, very fashionable short-sleeved, collared and/or button-down shirts that are awesome on plenty of people. Much of it depends on your climate, possibly, and the appropriateness and comfort level of the shirt.

It also helps to have some arms with a bit of muscle. They don't really work with spaghetti arms. That might be why some of you guys don't like them?

Or are you confusing short-sleeved with "The Sipowitz?" :hmm:

We'll see my friend. 😛

It might be a late night tonight, so I don't know if I'll go tomorrow. 😛

I do need a spotter too afterall. Haha.

i don't disrupt my own workout schedule because of late nights. also, if there is staff at this gym i'm sure they will be glad to spot you, especially if you explain what's at stake. one might even hold the camera for you.

lulz, he's going to be driving to the gym and get deathly sick and have to come home. don't get your hopes up for a video.
