So, Dell makes a computer that's about as good as any other computer but they make up for it by providing horrible customer service? No thanks. I'll never buy a Dell.
 
What I meant by previous statement was that when you get your little Dell pos, there are a ton of processes, like support, mcafee bloated center AV, mmjb, etc, and that's about 55 processes.

I have a dell laptop (700m) dell monitor (2001FP) and dell computer (400sc) and non have had any issues and all of them are excellent machines
have 10 dell desktops at work and they have less issues than the "self built" machines that our company decided to get cause our IT guy at the time thought it would be a "good idea"
The only dell i've ever seen go bad to date at my company is a two year old laptop that had a HD go bad, it was an hitachi drive though so not really "dell's" fault...

if you want 24, it seems like most of the good guys use Apple computers. i can't remember the bad guys using Apple computers, just some generic brand PC

Hmm...none of the hundreds of Optiplexes I've bought from Small Business or Enterprise in the past few years have any of that stuff on them.

Out of curiosity, why? I was in charge of supporting ~1200 Dells at my previous job and we didn't have too many problems with them. One thing that did happen that I wasn't too pleased with was when we received a new shipment of desktops and one of the IDE cables was not plugged in. That is not something you expect on a brand new computer, especially since we were in the habit of just plugging them into the network and installing the image for that particular model and delivering them. Nothing major, but a bit of a hassle.

The best option if youre not willing to build yourself is to order a custom built PC from an online store. I have suggested Monarch because they only charge $18 to build an AMD system.

With the consumer line, I would tend to agree with CorporateRecreation.

With a number of the business lines (as a whole), I would have to disagree. Most of the PowerEdge line is very solid as far as reliability, quality, and performance are concerned. As most know, a number of the PowerEdge line products can also serve as workstations as well.

Though the SC420 seems to have a problem ot two (am sure I speak for many that miss the days of the 400SC). in general the machines are very well built, with high quality components inside and out. The only unfortunate trade-off is the often use of propreitary components (power supplies, motherboards, cases, etc).

i've seen them use alienware in a few episodes. i think it was the computers that lionel luther "donated" to the torch. the color was obviously kryptonite green
