I dont like it. Its got to be the ugliest model I've ever seen. You can get a nicer car for the same price.

I was looking at the C Coupes a little while ago also. I like the look of it, but like others have said, for the money there are better cars.
Some cars that you could also check out (many have been mentioned) in the same price range:

Acura CL and TL (and their Type-S variants)
3-series BMW
Audi A4
VW Passat
Nissan Maxima (2002 is awesome, with 260hp & HID headlamps)
Honda S2000
Lexus IS300
Chrysler 300M
Infiniti I35
Infinit G35 (if you can wait a year ;))

I think the X-Type is amazing, personally, and almost held out for it. I ended up getting an Acura CL Type S because my old car wasn't going to last long enough for me to wait for the X-Type! ;)

Looks like some girl took a Saab 9-3 5-door and redecorated it. All it is missing is a little bud vase on the dashboard, but I guess VW patented that.

the one you see is $28,320 - has nearly all the options.

My price range ends at $30,000 as I see no need in spending more then that.

I like the jag x-type a lot - but yet its base is $29,000 and by the time I added the options that I would want on it it would be over my price range. My mom has a maxima, it drives good, but for some reason just does not interest me that much. Thanks for everyone's opinions KEEP THEM COMMING :)

I know a lot about this car. Force Fed 4 with about 195hp. The interior is nice, but the radio sucks and is a bitch to replace thanks to the all Fiber system MB uses. It isn't that fast, it is more of a cruiser. The hatch is convienent. I was considering this and an RSX type S, I decided to go for the RSX. Good Luck!

<< i bet 80% of you guys have not even driven a MB, the C320 Sedan is really nice. >>

Sh!t, I'd go so far to say that 80% don't even drive. :p

Personally, I test-drove all the cars that I'd listed, except for the one's that aren't out yet (X-Type, 2002 Maxima--did drive a 2001 though, I35--did drive an I30, and G35--did drive a G20, not that they're even similar) and the S2000. I thought I got more car for the money with my CL-S than the Mercedes. Now when the AMG version of the C comes out, THAT will be a great car, but unfortunately even more expensive.

I always thought any lower than E class, the MB is a showoff that you drive a MB. But that is my thoughts

S600 and CL600 = pimp cars!

I saw a few of this MB on the road, it really depends on color.

I beleive black color looks the best. I hate the red, white or silver. (Simply because there are a lot of black color on the back because of the rear window, just a personal taste)

For the X-type, I have read several car magazine reports that it share a lot of componet with FORD and does not seem to be a good buy.

Car and driver: But this X-type?it's nothing more than a Ford Contour with a growling cat on its hood. If this isn't quite trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear, it's no better than starting with a nylon wallet.

quote2: But we strongly suspect that those buyers who have been saving their shekels for a Jaguar priced closer to 30 than to 50 big ones will be delighted with the new X-type.

Its based on the same chassis as the mercury mystique. All I've read commended it! Heck, even lotus does/ or did share parts with fords.

Actually, it's based very heavily off of the Ford Modeno in Europe. The mystique and contour were both based off of the modeno platforms. The X type uses a Jaguar tuned ford 2.5L duratec engines found in the discontined Con/tique platform and the 3.0 Duratec found in recent tauruses.

it all depends if you want to do with your car. If you are into going swiftly and maybe driving spirtidly every once in a while then you should go with a BMW 3 series. although thew 2.5 is a bit underpowered the cars handle beautifully. If you want to go with bang for buck, then go with the Nissan Maxima SE.

Who cares what anybody thinks of the car. Looks decent to me. But like many said, for the price, you could probably do better.

So keep looking.

I own one :D
With about 75 dollars in mods I got under 14 seconds in the quarter mile.
It will out perform the Mercedes and X-type in ever way, but it's not as luxerious. The x-type is a sweet looking car. I have to say I actually like how the WRX looks over how that Mercedes' looks.
