Everyone's happy with Firefox, well what about Thunderbird

Firefox is so great that I thought I'd try out Thunderbird, the firefox of email apps. So far I've noticed that it's much faster than outlook at searching and displaying things, but I was wondering why it wasn't getting as much say as firefox. I wanted to know other people's opinions on it, so post your thoughts.

I'm not happy with Firefox.

I don't appreciate your assumptions

As for email client, I like how the new Outlook looks. Looks... nice.
Haven't had any problems either.

My favorite thing about Outlook is when it tells you if you have unread mail on the Windows Login screen.
That's some pimp software-OS integration right there!

I use Thunderbird everywhere and I like it a lot. The spam filters are really good, and the app is lightweight and like you said, very fast. Their new folder/search feature is hot (although it's a ripoff from outlook), and I also like their threaded view, which Outlook doesn't seem to have. Overall, thunderbird is double-plus-good.

xEDIT409, the XP login screen will show that regardless of which mail client you use - as long as it's a windows-compatible one, it'll report what accounts to check and such to windows so it can display the message properly.

agreed to most of the above; I like and use both firefox and thunderbird. Question re: upgrading-- I'm happy with the version I have now, but I'll probably want to upgrade in the future. To avoid as many difficulties as possible, is it best to just uninstall old version through windows add/remove programs, and install the new one? Will settings be retained? Thanks for any info.. 🙂

Same here, use both Firefox and Thunderbird, and happy with both. Prior to Thunderbird, I was using Netscape 4.7x for mail. I don't care for Outlook (which I am forced to use at work).

Yeah you can uninstall through add/remove programs and upgrade; Your settings are retained.

I use Eudora just because I have no need to switch. I've used it for more years than I can remember and it's always worked fine for me. And it's free.
