Everyone with a KT400 and a Radeon 9700pro any problems?

I'm gonna be building my friends new computer next week. He got a MSI KT4 Ultra and a Sapphire Radeon 9700pro along with other goodies of course 🙂 So are we asking for trouble or will it go ok? Anyone have problems with this combo on these forums?

The KT400 chipset makes me laugh....

Slower than the KT333 in most cases....and even slower than the KT333 with DDR400. Also, don't forget you can only run one stick of DDR400 reliably. Oh wait...it has AGP 8X though....

There is no way to tell until you try it. Plenty of people are having problems and there doesn't seem to be a reliable source of what is the cause of it.

People said that they've spoken to ATI reps and said bios revision problems on the card, other say switching powersupplies fixed it or newer bios revisions.

Honestly I don't think anyone knows what the cause is.


Well I have an asus A7V8x with the ati retail radeon 9700 pro with the bios revision 1.0 which should be incompatible but it works for me. looped quake 3 and 3dmark for over 2 days without a crash.

How many extra 3DMarks is AGP 8X getting you? Is there a HUGE performance increase over 4X? 😉😛
