I don't care if its divine intervention or if the Republicans just conceded that Trump is a danger to the republic but time to dance a jig!

A celebration to be sure, but there remain many potential actions the Commander and Chief of our nation can take, actions that are both hostile to our allies and friendly to our enemies.

Well, although there's Trump to worry about, there's all those sycophant acolytes and minions of his to keep a wary eye on too. Can't have one without the other as it were.

It amazing how Trump can be such a moronic lowlife, bereft with personality disorders, stuck in a self-made criminally inducing rut, heavily burdened with legal troubles, still lying his ass off at every opportunity and yet still be the Republican's choice to win their way back to the White House. Looks like there's no bottom as far as the Republicans are willing to let Trump sink them down into.

And to what end? So he can get revenge for the awful awful things the Democrats put him through because he rightfully stole boxes full of top secret files, got caught, refused to give them back thus forcing the authorities to come and get them all while Trump was profanely whining about his being a victim over and over again? So he can use his Justice Dept. and the military turned personal thugs to hunt down every single person that upset him, that exposed his crimes, that humiliated him by dragging his ass to jail, all of which pissed off and insulted his MAGAts to no end because no matter what manner of malfeasance Trump perpetrated he was never supposed to be treated like any other common criminal would, like any 'ol Democrat vermin would?

Cool and stuff, but a second trump term means he’ll do whatever he wants.
Yep, OP thinks a simple bill will stop Trump from doing whatever he wants?

If Trump wins, Russia attacks Estonia/Latvia, Trump will do nothing but offer a free McRib to Putin, and nothing will reverse it. And NATO will shatter from the deliberate Trump inaction. Although Polish support may make it a very bloody new invasion for Russia.

Edit: Really, the only notable effect of this bill is to make on-the-fence traditional Republicans feel better about voting for Trump again

From a practical standpoint yea it doesn't mean a lot since Trump would just sit on his hands.

In this scenario I think the Euros largely stick together and fight Russia who has not gotten to experience unrestricted conventional warfare practiced by nations with far more capable systems at their disposal than say Georgia or Ukraine.

I just don't see Trump being able to cheat his way into office again. His shrinking base still isn't big enough. I know of no event that has suddenly made any portion of the 100million registered non voters in the US suddenly like the mentally ill criminal and traitor. The worst, most corrupt and criminal White House occupier of the modern age is going up against a record like Biden's ? While in court over 91 felonies? It's going to be another limp Trump flop, and anyone associated with him outside the Deep South loses, bigly. The ladies aren't done with these assholes, not yet.

Still, this was an appropriate move given the possibility of another mindless fascist in the Trump mold coming to power. NATO works, and a NATO without the US probably won't.

It isn’t about the base. It’s about the state officials that will accept illegitimate electorates. And because of the 3rd party candidates, not getting to 270 is highly likely. So the house can an issue.

As for the topic, yeah he can’t officially pull out, he’ll pander to his authoritarian counterparts. So moot if still technically still part of NATO or not.

Given Russia's renewed interest in imperial expansion and taking everyone's land, NATO is extremely vital for keeping tens, if not hundreds of millions of Europeans alive.
This decree does not stop a US President from betraying NATO.

Which state officials? The Trump anointed ones who just kept mostly losing the last 3 election cycles? I am worried about the holy roller nutbag we have as Speaker though, he is definitely bad news.

Any president can choose to gum up the works, especially if they have a compliant chunk of Congress to help.

This bill is not an end all. Putin still has non NATO countries he can attack.

If Putin is stupid enough to attack a NATO country and Article 5 is invoked our troops/weapons can’t be deployed without Presidential approval and Trump will refuse.

I could see giving them to Poland. Maybe even the Baltic states. Finland too?
Ukraine, already at war, with occupied territory... it would be too easy to use in a desperate move. That is not an escalation anyone wants.
The current conflict must remain conventional at all costs. You would hand nukes to NATO members, to ensure no war comes to them.

More evidence that Repugs are cucks to an immoral philanderer:
