Every piece of clothing should fit me perfectly

I am 5'10" and 165lbs. This should be the perfect statistical average for the adult male population. So, any 'large' item of clothing should theoretically fit me perfectly. Instead, I have to buy slim fit (NOT skinny) jeans, slim fit dress shirts, slim fit slacks, slim fit t-shirts, etc.

Why are fatties so fat? You are distorting the entire clothing industry and making me purchase medium shirts which make my nipples show because they are too tight. Damn you people eating that extra candy bar. You filthy apes have ruined clothes for me.

Next stop: having to visit an expensive tailor to chop down 'fatty-large' to 'normal-large' shirts.

Hey idiot.

If you're average why would you be a large and not a medium?

Small - Medium - Large

Which one would be the average size if statistically people were evenly divided between those 3 groups?

I hate stupid people more than fatties.

I also have this problem. I've found the express has the best slim fit dress shirts, polo shirts, and pants. They aren't cheap though.

The biggest problem is that in order to get the proper length shirt (so your belly button isn't sticking out), you have to go up to a large. But a large is massively baggy. They design clothing for "average people". Unfortunately average has become fat.

edit: You should just be happy the slim fit thing is catching on. It wasn't too long ago that people like us just had to suck it up and wear baggy or terribly fitting clothes.

I'm 6'1 180lbs and wear mostly medium. I don't think you're a large OP.

It seems most guys just assume they are a large, even I did until recently.

This.

Mediums are very short in length and tight in the chest area. They seem designed for teenage boys. So the next step up (large) should be good. But it isn't.

One other point that bothers me is that I need to pay more AND have limited selection of slim fit clothing. That means fat people get more design choice for cheaper.

Where do you shop?

5 8 170 here and everything fits like shit. Most smalls/some mediums are tight as hell on my back and arms while the stomach part is soooo wide and loose.

I work out but I'm not johnny bravo... I'm tired of everything being fit for guys with pot bellies.

Jesus christ, people will complain about literally everything.

If you've never gone through a shelf of pants looking for a 36" inseam or had your choice of shoes limited because your feet are big, kindly shush your tiny manlet mouth.

Do yourself a favor and check your favorite shoe spot for my shoe size - 14 EEE. For extra laughs at my expense, check out the awesome selection of tennis shoes. When you come back, make a post counting your lucky stars you're freakishly small, along with much of the rest of the population.

Department stores.

I have only one t-shirt which fits me perfectly: a Calvin Klein size medium.

Dress shirts are terrible -- you literally have to buy slim fit because there are no large/medium shirts (unless you are a turd who buys non-number sized dress shirts).

brooks brothers has regular fit, traditional fit, slim fit and extra slim fit for their dress shirts. and their non-iron dress shirts are awesome.

That's about my size, though I consider myself mildly pudgy atm lol, but I'm all about the mediums. Shirts are sometimes a little short but it's a minor annoyance at best.

Try my solution: Don't buy things that come in small/med/large unless they're t-shirts or boxers. Buy clothes with measurements.

Full disclosure: I own a lot of t-shirts too.

Brooks Brothers are the absolute best for non-iron. Good range of measurements available too. The slimmer cuts will probably not fit you even if you're rail thin if you have broad shoulders, though. For that, go regular fit. Traditional has a little more room in the midsection, and I'm a bit overweight right now, but not enough to require that. So traditional is a pretty generous cut.
