The planets align in such a fashion that my normal stop and go, rush hour morning commute transforms into a magical place where few people are on the road and I can actually go the speed limit (or slightly above)! Its amazing how relaxing it is to go 80mph with no one in front of you instead of 0-25mph and it seems like the whole city is on the road between you and your exit

There was an accident on the road this morning for me.

I've always found Friday mornings to be light on traffic compared to other days of the week.
 
I like when all the lights magically turn green as you approach them, and you don't even have to tap the brakes. There's one light near me that seems like it's always red, regardless of the direction you're coming from. Getting that green is like hitting the lottery.

The State Troopers around here wouldn't care. Hell - if I lived a bit more to the east I would probably get run off the road for going so slow!

On my commute home (from work) the speed limit goes from 55 to 65 to 70. The rate of speed of motorists goes from 80 to 70 to 55. Just because a load of dumbasses thinks its better to go slower in the fast sections than in the slow sections.

And yes, the reverse is also true for the opposite direction.

Statistically, it's true. Though it varies by city to city, Thursdays statistically are the worst day for traffic while Fridays and Mondays are the best. Especially in the summer.

There's a couple reasons for this. A lot of corporations implement summer hours. Allows office staff to go home at 1-2pm instead of the usual 5 on a Friday. So the rush is more spread out. Also a lot of people just use up their vacation time to get Monday or Friday off. Schools will also be out soon, which will reduce rush hour traffic but you'll start getting accidents at odd times due to the influx of tourists.

Also Tuesdays seem to be the worst for accidents. I have no idea why.
 
I also made great time this morning on the way in. I even took Rt 1 instead of the NJ Turnpike workaround. And there were no delays on the Garden State Parkway where I typically hit them.

It must be a trap.

It's called friday. Traffic is normally lighter on friday for whatever reason (school? Execs taking day off?). I notice it too and enjoy it.
 
Mmm, should be a busy afternoon though. Already seeing the roads getting busy going out of Toronto. Not a lot of people trekking up to the cottage like we used to see though.
 
It's been lighter then usual on DC beltway this week. I suspect ride home this afternoon will be a motherfucker!

I think we hit a sleeve of schools out and vacations start.
