"Every kiss begins with Kay" (the word kiss begins with the letter k)

My favorite ad... and I see a lot of them as I belong to a program that rewards me for watching them.. is the ad for GM.. the one where the guy gets into the SUV and is confronted with a squirrel who bursts into song and as he drives along birds fly in thru the sunroof and begin singing...lol, the bit where the wolf falls in and swallows the bird is pretty funny.

That's a nice commercial, but how effective is it? If I were to think off the top of my head I'd have no idea what the ad was for..whereas the one you've mentioned stands out. It's good marketing, nothing more nothing less.

Different people like different things. I can't understand why someone would pay $500-$5000 for a watch, and I'll make my opinions known, but I don't think any less of that person.

Good lord, I don't think less of people who like fine jewelery, I find Kay's commericals noxious because they depict men as simpering pansies and women as sleazy sluts who have to be given overpriced sparklies in order to kiss their husbands? and their target auidence is probably the group of people who can least afford to be be buying overpriced crap jewelery on payments.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the Kay's commercials today.

Asking each other for lists is direct communication that saves us a lot of time and spares us a lot of bullshit.

Defeats the purpose of Christmas if you have to ask for something. Maybe it's just me, but I'd much rather get something I didn't know about/ask for/expect. It adds appeal to the holiday. Sure, getting things you need/want is nice, but why do you have to get it on an occasion? Why not just pick it up, I mean, a $25 fleece doesn't require an occasion.

How about Valentines day? Women expect a romantic day, a bouquet of flowers, chocolate, whatever. Something. But why? Why not give flowers on any other day of the week? Why not a romantic occasion just for the hell of it?

People are being told to do things on certain days, because someone a long time ago said it should be that way. That's not fair, and it's certainly not right.

me and my wife always give little list on what we want. Yes i can find her somethign she would enjoy and she could do the same. But having a list of 3-5 items just helps.

she knows i want games (pc,wii, PS3) and movies. it helps to giver her what one etc.

same with me. she gives me a list that says what she wants. she usually wants stuff from bath and body works. she gives me a list of exactly what she wants.

thats not saying we don't get each other the occasional gift that we pick up. we don't need a day or something to do it either.

I thought it was a Jeep commercial. On topic, yes, I think Kay's ads are nauseating, but they have their audience, just like all the ads out there. No wonder so many people are in debt. Too many people are buying stuffs they don't need with borrowed money.

I enjoy buying my wife teh colored baubles in nicer jewelry stores.

I agree that Kay isn't one of them, but "Every kiss begins with Kay" doesn't bother me.

My wife really likes jewelry, but doesn't nag, throw not-so-subtle hints, nor pester me to buy it.

I usually find something I KNOW she'd like and surprise her with it, but ONLY if/when we can afford to pay for it without financing. THAT does seem rather stupid to me for anything except perhaps the wedding set when you first get married, and even then, most people go way over their heads, and are still making the paymenst after the ink is dry on their divorce decrees...

We'll be in Ka'anapali this year for her birthday, and I'll probably take her to Maui Divers or Na Hoku and buy her a ring or earrings....probably pearls.

Geekbabe, if you don't like/appreciate jewelry, that's fine, and you certainly seem to have well-grounded values. Not a thing wrong with that, but seriously, if the hubby brought home some nice bauble or trinket, would you really be pissed?

Hey, I just got it. Every Kiss begins with Kay's, as in the letter K. I never paid that much attention to it before. I feel more enlightened now.

We all have our peeves. There are certain ads that other people don't notice which grate on my nerves like sandpaper. The Kay's one isn't one of them, but I know how you feel GB.

I don't think there is a jewelery store commercial I don't hate.

Jarred's slogan drives me nuts also.

I hate these commercials almost as much as the Lexus "season to remember" commercials they should start showing real soon. You know, the ones with the new Lexus sitting in someones driveway with a giant red bow on it. Then I think they also re-run these commercials during valentines day as well.

I just want you to understand how much men feel obligated to do something just because someone said it should be that way. Like I said earlier, we're in a tight spot and certain things are expected from us.

That "tight spot"though is one you can easily get out of simply by talking with the women you're involved with, sharing your values and such and looking for women who value similar things.

Ewwwwwww, rather drop a few grand on some bauble every now and again....

Geekbabe,

You said you have a $1500 gold handmade belt you won?

Were you a female wrestler? That's HOT! :D

That was the first thing that came to mind!

And those annoying jewelry commercials are there to brainwash people into believing that love is merely something materialistic that you express by going into ridiculous debt over someone else. You can see how well the brainwashing worked on you.

I guess they need to come up with more cleaver marketing next time, like some dirt poor 100 year old geezer with his last dying breath handing his soon to be 18 year old wife a ring box with a cigar band in it to wear around her finger. Then the jingle "Every kiss begins with death" can start up as he drops dead from anticipation.

How does stupidity have anything to do with it? It's just a jingle that's been seemingly effective at getting its message across.

Kay's sells POS jewerly at high prices and the commericals themselves are an insult to thinking women.

To begin, are their really men who act like the guys in those ads? Seriously, they need to be given their nutsacks back if they exist.

most women aren't thinking to get a ring.

most guys that get a chance to give you realistically don't act like the commercial.

However the masses buy in.
